What is your ”perfect day?” 1 years ago
‘Day Away
What’s in the way—
first thought of the day?First thought of the day:
If I still knew how
to play pretendfirst things first
I’d love my brain again.“Have fun,”
they say.Fun?
These days
I spend most daysrunning from
the very idea.I don’t bother—
I don’t let “fun” bother me.Instead,
it’s with peaceand ease
that I wish to
‘shoot the breeze.’Everyday
I do my best—I try.
Even when the only way
I know how
isto cry.
No day is perfect
but what’s a day that’s as close to perfect as it can get? It’s allowing it
to be okaythat my best looks different
depending on the day.To trust that
to have it any other waywouldn’t accomplish the same.
Because to live is
to survive
before it is to thrive. Now what they don’t tell you
is thriving takes reviving. And what remains
can’t be given a name—until the day you can say
“I trust in you.”And so I grew.
At las,
anew.And new…
and new.And I’ll continue to grow
let it showbask in the afterglow
of the perfect day
on replaywith my someone else—
the one I nevergave up on
finding.So when asked to describe
the perfect daysome might say
it’s bright.When asked
I insistthey’re not quite right:
it’s blinding.

Hi, Ash! Aiša here 🙂 Thank you for sharing your work of he(art) with us <3
Surely, anyone who reads this letter will find that they are ready and more than willing to accept you! But guess what? You don’t need them to.
You’ve got YOU!
I’m absolutely gushing over the radical self-acceptance this piece embodies.
“[…] but I move to a melody
only a few can comprehend.”This is lovely—thanks again for sharing, Ash!

Why do you love yourself? 1 years ago
Save A Little Love for Me
Saved A Little Love For Me
When the one you love leaves you behind–
walks away–you quickly realize
people never stay. That there is all but one soul
from which you can never run away.So I look for signs of art–
trying to decipher my own heart. And that’s a start?
Making peace with what I find
all in due time.Shoutout to the, “Let yourself hurt”
people. No thanks to the, “Love yourself first”
people. They can’t make me love myself.
I should
so, I do?Can’t be helped
so, I’m screwed?No.
See,
I don’t know (for sure)
what love is.So I’ll write what I do
and I’ll do it alone.“Withhold and explode
or write what you know—there’s no greater loss
than a story untold.”With these words,
I’ve built a homefor my art,
my dream,
my heart. They’re the ink behind my pen.
Because words on a page
beat life’s stage
time and time again.“Any love reserved for me
is a love reserved for trying.”Voting is closed

Aisa, This is another beautiful piece. I love this part: “Because words on a page
beat life’s stage
time and time again.”I can so relate. I feel your softness through your writing. As always thank you for sharing and thank you for being part of The Unsealed family. <3 Lauren

Hi there, Hannah. Thank you so much for sharing about your return to the arts
“[…] without conscious acknowledgement
with daydreaming and journal entries”It’s funny, this descriptor echoes a familiar sentiment—that of my own journey. But with one exception, I wasn’t returning. No, I was finding myself.
For the first time! Ignoring and longing for self-discovery until one day, I finally faced the music.
It’s true that the small wins come together to make big waves. And I’m sure we can agree that when they do, it’s nothing short of magic.
I do hope inspiration comes knocking on your door often 🙂
Happy New Year, Hannah!

“[…]the expectations are loud”—
and too loud at that! These four words say it all—all that needs saying, they’ve said!
May this be another “YES year” nonetheless 🙂
Thanks for this one, Gie <3

Hi there, Rashan. Aiša here. Thank you so much for sharing about this experience of leaving your comfort zone.
I’ll admit, I require this reminder for too often—that
“[…] it’s not the eloquence, but what I say,
That truly matters at the end of the day.”And I can’t tell you what a relief it was to read. You couldn’t have left us with a more eloquent string of words than those you’ve penned <3
Unfortunately, I don’t give myself this friendly reminder nearly enough. Instead, I’m self-critical—and not just of my speech. I scrutinize my writing too…
I sometimes suspect neither deserves reviews as harsh as those I hash out. However, these remain nothing more than suspicions in this place where self-critical is rampant.
This is all to say, your words deeply resonated. I appreciate them and I appreciate you—their writer. So once again, thank you for sharing 🙂
And I hope your new year is off to a great start!

Oswald!!! I love this part:
“No matter the difficulty
On hills, boats and all uneven terrain
I step into my powerTo be on my own two feet
A feeling that’s worth so much to me”You are incredible. I am so inspired by your attitude, heart, and spirit. You are incredible.

Hi there, Kiore. Aiša here. Thank you for sharing what I feel is nothing short of an act of activism.
It feels silly to quote the following in light of all that you’ve penned, but I’m compelled to do so anyway.
“I’m grateful to be able to have an opportunity like this
It’s shocking how many of these in the past I’ve missed”
You hit the nail on the head that is my life with these words. When I read them, it felt as though you were speaking to me directly.
For me, this was profound. And it’s a lesson I continue to learn, time and time again.
Why wait? Happy New Year, Kiore.

I’m so happy this resonated with you! So often we all tend to only focus on our inner world and not in the world around us and that and itself has caused a lot of chaos and it doesn’t help those who genuinely need our support and our help. Such as those who are suffering from unspeakable things every single day. I know that I can’t help every…read more

They disappoint you
Make you disbelieve”But the opening this leaves for revivals of faith—it’s nothing short of magic <3

From the image in the banner, to the title and poem itself…this deeply resonated—although it didn’t sting, instead it tickled?
Because look at us!!
I have a hunch about the circumstances around which this poem came to be, but I’ll leave it at that. Unless, of course, you’d like to chat 🙂
Before I go, if I could find a way to let every singer-songwriter know:
