The Illusion of the Future
A Reflection on Existence
The concept of the future is one of the greatest deceptions ever accepted by the human mind. We are taught from childhood to believe in it, to chase it, to plan for it, as if it is something real, something tangible, something awaiting us. But the truth is, the future does not exist. It never has. It is nothing more than a thought, a projection of the mind that keeps us distracted from the only thing that has ever truly existed: the present moment.
We live under the illusion of time, dividing it into past, present, and future, as if these are separate realities when in truth, they are all the same. There is no past. There is no future. There is only NOW Whatever you call the past was once NOW. Whatever you call the future will only ever arrive as NOW. So what, then, is the difference? There is none.
The Deception of Time
Human beings have created clocks, calendars, and timelines to measure existence, but energy, the very essence of life, does not move in a straight line. It is not bound by beginning or end. It simply IS Everything you have ever been, everything you will ever be, already exists within you right now. Time is not a force of nature; it is a mental construct, a tool designed to help us function within this three-dimensional world. But a tool is not reality. We deceive ourselves into believing that the future holds something different, something more, something greater. “One day, I will be happy.” “One day, I will have everything I need.” “One day, I will understand.” But that one day never comes. Because whenever it does, it is no longer the future, it is just another NOW If you cannot enjoy something now, you will never enjoy it at all.
What About the Past?
If there is no future, does that mean there is no past? Yes. Because past and future are two sides of the same illusion. The past is nothing more than a memory, a story we tell ourselves, shaped by perception, colored by emotion. It does not exist outside of our minds. Just like the future, it is a projection. We say, This happened, but all that truly exists is our remembrance of it right now.And yet, everything is energy. Energy is not born, nor does it die,it simply changes form. It has no beginning, no end, and no direction. If something has no origin and no destination, how can it have a past or a future? It cannot. The only reality is the infinite unfolding of energy, experienced through the limited perception of human consciousness.
The Purpose of Human Existence
So why are we here? Why this world, this experience? Because Earth is a gathering place for energy. Everything you see, everything you touch, everything you ARE it is all energy, interacting, reflecting, learning from itself. You do not know yourself without me, just as I do not know myself without you. Our existence is defined by the presence of others.Humanity is not just a species, it is a stage in consciousness. A temporary phase, a learning process. When our understanding of this world is complete, when we have taken all we need from this form, we transcend. We evolve into something else, something higher, something more refined. Perhaps an angel, perhaps a god, perhaps something beyond even our current imagination.
But the transition is not automatic. The energy you cultivate here determines what you become next. You could ascend into higher consciousness, or you could descend into something darker. A monster, a lost spirit, a force trapped in endless cycles of confusion. The choice is yours, shaped by the awareness you develop while in this body.
The Only Truth
So if the future does not exist, and the past is only a memory, what is left?Only THIS; This moment, this breath, this feeling. The only purpose, the only true responsibility we have, is to make this existence meaningful. Not by waiting for the future, not by being trapped in the past, but by understanding the now. Because this is all there is, and all there will ever be.

William, this is so thought-provoking and important. I never thought about it before, but you are right that there isn’t really a “future”…just an idea that has yet to occur. While this might seem a little bleak at first, your words suggest otherwise. This really just means that we need to be present and find meaning in everything we do. Thank…read more

The illusion of Quietness
To those who seek silence,
There is a belief—a fragile, deceptive belief—that somewhere, somehow, quietness exists. That if one escapes far enough, buries themselves deep enough in solitude, or stills their mind with enough discipline, they will finally find it. But the truth is, quietness is an illusion. You will never know this until you become quiet yourself.
The moment you sit in what you think is silence, you realize—there is no such thing. The world hums, vibrates, whispers beneath its breath. The wind murmurs through the trees. The walls creak as if sighing under the weight of time. Even your own body, the very thing you seek to still, betrays you—the steady rhythm of your breath, the pulsing of your blood, the subtle ringing in your ears that you had never noticed before. Even in the most desolate places, there is sound.
And yet, in the modern world, we are so flooded with distractions that we do not even recognize the absence of quietness. Noise has become our default state. The endless hum of technology, the constant barrage of notifications, the artificial voices that demand our attention—these things do not just fill space, they erase our ability to perceive true presence. Social media, smartphones, and the digital world have not just taken our attention; they have stolen our ability to experience memory in its purest form. When noise never stops, reflection never begins.
Memory itself is tied to quietness. True recollection happens in stillness, in the absence of external noise. But how can one remember when they are never still? How can one reflect when their mind is constantly being filled with artificial chatter? The ability to be alone with one’s thoughts has become a lost art, drowned beneath the never-ending stream of information.
And what of death? If one cannot find quietness in life, can they find it in death? Perhaps not. For even then, the soul is energy, and energy never truly rests. Frequency exists beyond the physical, and who is to say that the afterlife is not just another form of vibration, another realm of sound beyond what we can perceive? Silence, true silence, may not even belong to the dead.
So, if quietness is an illusion, what is left? Awareness. To recognize that you will never escape sound, that you will never truly silence the world, but that in understanding this, you can choose which sounds you allow into your mind. You can choose to hear yourself beyond the noise. And maybe, just maybe, that is as close as we will ever come to quietness.

William, it is so true that quietness is simply an illusion. Even when we are alone in our thoughts, our minds refuse to stop making noise. I love that you acknowledge that while we can never truly quiet the noise, we can determine what noise we allow into our lives. This is the only way we can find true peace. Thank you for inspiring me!

Exactly! Silence isn’t the absence of noise it’s the ability to control what noise we allow in. Our minds will always be active, but we have the power to filter distractions and focus on what truly matters. That’s where real peace begins. I appreciate your insight! Keep embracing that awareness.

My Letter 2 Music
Dear Music,
You have been my first love, my most loyal companion, and my greatest storyteller. Before I even knew how to express myself fully, you spoke for me. You carried my joy, my pain, my anger, and my healing in melodies, in beats, in lyrics that felt like they were written just for me.
When the world felt too loud, you gave me rhythm. When silence was too heavy, you filled it with sound. You have never judged me for how I felt-you simply embraced me, wrapped me in harmonies, and let me be.
You have been my bridge to places I have never been, to people I have never met. You break barriers, crossing languages and cultures, bringing souls together in a way nothing else can. Through you, strangers have become family, and stories have been passed down like sacred traditions.
Whether I was dancing in joy, drowning in sorrow, or standing in quiet reflection, you have always been there. Guiding me. Holding me. Reminding me that I am not alone.
Thank you for your presence in every stage of my life. For being my escape, my therapy, my celebration. Thank you for giving me the courage to tell my own stories. I will always love you. I will always need you.Forever Yours,

Eternal Watch (In response to the Death of Andrew Duarte)
***A Poem for the Fallen Soldiers and Officers**
They rose each day, laced their boots tight,
Stepped into the dark to carry the light.
Not for the glory, not for the fame,
But to answer the call-no matter the name.Through city streets and quiet towns,
They stood tall when the world broke down.
A shield of honor, a heart so brave,
A promise given, a life they gave.Their voices echo in whispered wind,
In every life they swore to defend.
Their footsteps linger, though they are gone.
In every dawn, their spirit shines on.To the families left with empty space,
Love remains-it can’t be erased.
Their sacrifice, a heavy toll,
But love and courage never grow cold.So we stand today with heads held high,
Saluting those who touched the sky.
Gone too soon, yet never apart,
Forever alive in memory’s heart.Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Marie, this poem brought me to tears. So many put their lives on the line each day and they aren’t often given the credit that they deserve. I love the message you wrote to the families that suffer when someone is lost too soon. You are right that the love will always remain and cannot be taken from them. Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem.

A Love Letter To Communication
My Dearest Communication,
From the moment I entered the world, before I could even form a word, you were there. The cries of a newborn, in the touch of a mother’s hand, in the unspoken language of your eyes, you made your presence known. you are not just a tool, not just a method, we are nothing without you. You are the silent force that moves the world, the unseen thread that weaves humanity together.
I have loved you in ways, I cannot describe, yet everytime I try, I realize that even the attempt itself is an act of loving you. You are the reason I exist with purpose, the force that allowsme to takethoughts from the depths of my mind and place them into the hearts of others. You are not just a speech, not just words on a page, you are an action, emotion, existence itself.
Everything I do, everything anyone does, begins and ends with you. A handshake, a glance, a carefully crafted letter, all of it is your expression. Without you, silence is not peace; it is a void. Without you, progress is not possible. What is leadership without words? What is love without expression? What is existence if not the constant exchange of signals, gestures, and messages that define our very nature?
You are not bound by sound, nor by sight, nor by language. You live in the subtlety of a raised eyebrow, in the rhythm of music, inthe blinking lights of technology speaking to one another. Every wave to a friend, every story passed down through generations, every revolution that has ever begun with the words, “enough is enough”, all of it is you.
You are the unseen architect of civilization. Without you, there are no laws, no literature, no connection between minds.
Every invention that has ever changes the world, started with you. A scientist speakes to his ideas before he builds. A writer listens to his soul before he creates. A lover whispers before they embrace. Everything begins with you.
And that is why I love you. Not because you merely exist but because you are existence , itself. You are the greatest power we have ever known.
So, I dedicate my life to you. Not just as a speaker, a writer, a thinker, but as someone who understands that without you, I am nothing.
With All My Heart,
William Joseph

Rhythm and Poetry
Lifting beats and melodies like organized crime
Sifting through grime to illustrate life and times
Lines and rhymes, breaking down enzymes
To wit- meaning to spit, mumblin ain’t shit.
Full of grit: giving and taking some hits.
The message runs deeper than the river Thames.
Dropping their knowledge like precious gems
Giving strength for the struggle, energy for the hustle
Tips for the tussles, all in my car – on shuffle.
Rhythm and Poetry, Rhythm and PoetryCruising around the block in my Honda Fit
Regulating soundwaves with old school hits You feel the bass blaring up and down the street.
Music aids my focus, makes life complete.
All day with my headphones on, I’m lost in the beat.
Looking for some paper, gotta find a sheet
To write down some verses and spark that heat
While spitting words uplifting, I’m regifting
Stray ideas sifting; minds been drifting

Dear College Town
Your winters—the soulless, cobbled walkways, the contorted fingers of bare trees which reach toward heaven. I love your winters, and the leaves which bleed between the cracks in your sidewalks. The sky is cold, but in your heart I cherish every love I share, dear college town.
A slow windchill claws down my spine. The blanched sun offers no relief. Your barren landscape reminds me of my stagnation—the way I’ve always struggled to move on. How can I allow myself to change? Your wind pulls me back from my wandering. My friends are out walking nearby, and I can hear their shiny laughter. Dear college town, your cold hands guide me toward a warmer love. Change will come with the seasons, but for now, I will cling to this moment.
Your springs—the green and earthy scents of rebirth permeate the air. Pansies overthrow dead grass in triumph. I love your springs, and the way your cherry blossom tree renews her yearly vows. So many new things flourish around me, so why do I feel left behind? Graduation is coming closer, and the world seems much too big for me. I fit right in your palm, dear college town. Will I ever be enough? But the fullness of your bloom infuses me with hope. Maybe it’s not too late for me to grow.
When I find myself overwhelmed, I often wander down to your oceans. Blue-jeweled waves whisk from the gulf, lapping at my ankles. Maybe the future will unfold like soft sea foam. Your watery inhale and exhale are reminders that destiny might come naturally, like breathing. Each day might be livable, one at a time. Your salt air, dear college town, speaks such truths to me.
Your autumns—the slow death of every bright thing, reduced to savory ashes of cardamom and nutmeg. I love your autumns, and the way your sparrows pick dry sticks for their nests. The clouds grow burdened with their own grayness, but I think I finally feel free. Unknown days lay ahead. But, I learn from your ladybugs on tender leaves, which wait for tomorrow in quiet solidarity. Fresh fall means a new start, dear college town—for you and me.
Sunset slips across the roofs of your shops and cafes. College students, back from break, bustle between the stores downtown. Peering through doorways, I am greeted by smiling strangers. How strange is the understanding between souls! I smile back. Beauty is everywhere, everywhere at once. The sun will set, and every eye will soon shine in the dark like stars in an intricate constellation. Dear college town, your loveliness works wonders in me. Let me love you before I go.ProWritingAid Style Score = 100%

My Dearest Muse
My Dearest Muse,
You have been my love since the beginning of my time. You put your stamp on some of the earliest memories in my mind. Your presence in my life calms my soul and nourishes my existence. You always know what I need to hear, speaking the words that vibe with my inner thoughts as you take me places far away from here. You were my first Love. The only Love that has been with me since way back when. I could sit and listen to you all day as my soul gravitates, clinging to your every word. Your words have taught me about love and life while guiding me spiritually, as I’ve used you to call on God in times of need or give thanks for the many blessings I’ve received.
Back in the day, I would lie in bed listening to you all night, falling asleep with you by my side. By day, I would sit on the floor surrounded by your presence, mimicking your words as we reminisced, and I dreamed, blown away by the effect you had on me. I could dance to your words, and when life got tough, I could cry to your words. You have been with me through every turn in my life. I am so very thankful to have you as my vice.
As the years have passed, my love for you has grown. When I wake up in the morning, I turn to you. Throughout my day, I think of you. Before I lay down at night, I am reminded of you. The sound of your words echoes in my head. What would my life be without you? This is something I never intend to find out. The silence would be too much to bear. Together, we have created the soundtrack of my life. How could I live without you, the thing that keeps me going? The place where I go to escape and find solace is with you. You are always there for me, close to my heart and embedded in my soul. Unforgettable you are. I love all versions of you, my love, my muse, my music.
Always and forever,
Me

Who Do You Say I Am? ( A Love Letter)
“To My One & Only” I truly thank G☀️D for you daily. If I’m honest at this stage of our relationship it’s definitely multiple times throughout my day into my night. You are magnificent. You are immaculate. You are who I aspire to be. Words can not truly describe how you make me feel, but you bring about a sense of peace and joy. I am capable of achieving anything I put my mind to. With you I will never lose, I either win or learn. You display servitude daily. It wasn’t until I wrote this letter that I even tried to imagine life without you. Complete darkness!
Bright, vibrant, beautiful, bold, brutal, loving, caring, warm, present, intentional, nurturing, honest, forgiving, safe & secure are some of the qualities and characteristics I love about you! You know every part of me, inside out. Not once have you ever judged or treated me differently. You continuously shower me with mercy and amazing grace! No one knows my secrets except you and
G☀️D! Your loyalty to G☀️D allows you to show up for me effortlessly. You are faithful in all of your ways. You are a gift and it is because of you I have favor. The distractions of the world often interrupts our connection, reminding me that I am not worthy of you. Often times my mind gets polluted and distorts my vision. It’s then I am blinded, tricked and bamboozled into sabotaging true love. With you I have hope for the future! I love how you sit high and look low, shining on the just and the unjust. You continue to bless others no matter how much they curse you. No matter how many times I stray away, you’re always there to welcome me back with open arms. Your love is unconditional! Even when my family and friends turn their backs on me, you are there to comfort me. Thank you for being my light in darkness. Shadows do not exist without you!
Moving forward into the future I plan to be intentional about spending time with you. I love you and you complete me. Abundance is my birthright, and to gain access to my inheritance I must acknowledge you above me. I recognize I have 2 ears, 2 eyes and a mouth for a reason. I must listen when you speak. Silence is golden and your voice is so fulfilling and sweet! It is with you HUMANS can truly just BE!
You are the portal that connects the heavens and the earth. I yearn to be a reflection. Heavens tears and your radiant smile produces rainbows, reminding us that there is a G☀️D greater than us all. We are the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and because of you we will forever be connected to the creator.
You are the all seeing eye. You are the original compass. You are the bright and morning star! You are the light of the world! You are infinite and I call you S☀️N because you shine like one.

Is This Love Oar What?
My body weight presses down upon you,
Pushing you under the water,
But you do not protest.
You do not fight back,
Although movement consumes you,
As you rock to and fro.
Seconds pass,
Turning into minutes.
Still, you move,
As I sit atop you,
Readying myself for our aqueous pas de deux,
While nearby witnesses idle by,
Paying little heed to our commingling.
I have no regrets
Being seen with you,
Mostly by water fowl near shore.
Oh, my kayak,
How I love riding the water
On top of your rotomolded plastic form.
My love for you cannot be kept secret,
Thanks to your neon lime green color
That is visible from space.
It eliminates any chance of a clandestine paddle,
When we are as one on the water.
You take such care of me,
Bravely protecting my bottom,
As you scratch and ding yours
On submerged rocks and branches.
You warn me with a metal placard
Riveted to your green skin
Of a 225 lb. max weight capacity.
Is that because of concern
That the extra pounds I carry
May result in health-related issues for me,
Like diabetes and high cholesterol?
Or is that a federally mandated requirement
For water craft to display?
I hope the former
And blush at your thoughtfulness.
When I first saw you,
Your charms were impossible to resist,
Especially your ability
To fit into my SUV
With the seats folded flat,
Saving me the cost of a roof carrier.
Always thinking of me,
Aren’t you?
You remain constantly on my mind,
As you are visible from our family room window,
Sitting idly under our pergola
That was once used for entertaining,
But now is repurposed for kayak storage,
Much to my wife’s displeasure.
What she doesn’t realize is that seeing you
Inspires me to slide my ample posterior
Into your inviting lime hull
For a workout on the river
To shed pounds like you shed water.
Well, perhaps not pounds but ounces.
Okay, would you believe one ounce,
If I paddle really hard?
That maximum weight capacity may be reached
Someday in the future.
But thanks to you, my kayak,
Not today.
I dip my paddle
And steal away across the water
With my love.Voting is closed

Emotional Creatures
Some of us worry about
“Certain features”,
We go through “desperate measures”.
To provide some type of pleasure.
We’re Constantly under pressure,
Fighting with gravity.
We are searching and looking
Browsing at eye candy,
Looks are appealing, but
To get a taste.
You might Unwrap other
Feelings!
Revealing the mind is
So divine,
Sometimes it’s quiet and unspoken,
Then sometimes it’s loud!
When it’s provoken,
Soo, maybe….it’s better to
Leave it unopened.
The power of emotions, blows up!
Some atomic fluids flowing. Now,
We’re chemically influenced.Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Michael, I love how you explain the complexity of emotions we encounter as humans each day. Our emotions have the power to influence us in a variety of ways and in many cases, we are unable to control them. It is so interesting that we have such little power against something that is so prevalent in our lives. Thank you for sharing this poem!

A Love Letter to My Legacy
To the mark I leave behind,
You are the fire that drives me, the whisper in my soul that refuses to be silenced. Long before my hands touched ink or my voice carried weight, you existed—a shadow of what could be, a promise waiting to be fulfilled.
I have built you from struggle, carved you from sacrifice, and shaped you with love so deep it demands to be remembered. You are more than words on a page, more than echoes in time—you are proof that I was here, that I lived with purpose, that I refused to let the world forget me.
You are written in my children’s laughter, stitched into every lesson I have taught them. You exist in the stories I tell, the battles I have won, the kindness I have given—even when I had nothing left to give.
The world may one day forget my name, but it will not forget you. You will live on in the lives I’ve touched, in the hands that carry my work forward, in the echoes of every love I have left behind.
So I write this to you, my unwritten chapters, my unfinished song, my enduring fire—may you outlive me, outshine me, and carry forward everything I dared to dream.
With all that I am,
A man who refuses to be forgotten.Voting is closed

Kristopher, I love the way you realize that you won’t necessarily be remembered by everyone, but that you’ve left a mark that will live on much longer than you will. Our legacies are so much more than a simple recollection of who we are and what we accomplished. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Park Visit
Having your inner child meet you at a park bench with tears in her eyes only means one thing & one thing only, she needs guidance. She needs love. She needs you to tell her things get better from here. You be honest with her & tell her it may not seem like it now, but everything eventually gets better. You let her know that her pain is valid. You will accept her tears. You tell her if it’s one thing you’ve learned, it’s having hope. Have faith. Find the positive amongst the hurt. Find gratitude amongst the moment. Find acceptance amongst the ugly.
Hearing your inner child tell you she wants happiness. She wants beautiful moments. She wants laughter. She wants her days to be filled with clarity. You look her in those little blue eyes with hair in her face & you give her the hug she needs. She deserves. She’s craved for so long. You let her know that in this moment, right now, everything needs to be felt.

Heather, it is beautiful and amazing that you can tell your inner child that everything will work out in the end. When we are in the middle of a crisis or uncertainty, simply knowing that we will make it through is often enough to motivate us to move forward. You are right that you deserve to feel that kind of support and love. Thank you for…read more

Darkside of Suicide
I see you.
Not just the you they pretend to notice,
but the you that lingers in shadows,
weighed down by whispers that won’t hush.
The you that wonders if silence
is the only way to be heard.I won’t lie to you—
this pain ain’t easy to carry.
It seeps into your bones,
fills your lungs with the weight of nights
that stretch too long, too heavy,
too empty.I know the darkside.
The way it calls your name like a lullaby,
promising rest where the world
only offers war.
I know how it feels
when the walls close in,
when every breath feels borrowed,
when hope is a language
you forgot how to speak. But listen to me.
There are others who walked this road,
stumbled, fell, but still found their way.
Not because the weight vanished,
but because they learned—
somehow, some way—
to shift it,
to share it,
to bear it just one more day.So if tonight feels like the last chapter,
I beg you—
turn the page.Because the story ain’t done.
And neither are you.Subscribe  or  log in to reply

This is beautifully written. Your words have strong visibility in them that grasped me from beginning to end!. Especially important with this topic and wanting people to know their story doesn’t have to be done.
Very good job!

Marie, this poem is so powerful! I love that you took the time to write this for those who are struggling. You are so right that sometimes simply turning the page can bring a new light to the situation. Even when it feels like the end, the story is not finished! Thank you for encouraging those around you with your words. You’ve inspired me today!

Rose Petals Floating on Water
Soft whispers drift where silence grows,
Petals like dreams in a quiet flow.
Each one, a story, a delicate trace,
Carried by currents in a peaceful embrace.Colors of love, shades of grace,
Gliding with time, no need to race.
Their journey slow, but hearts are light,
Dancing on ripples in the soft moonlight. They don’t ask for more, just to be,
Floating freely, wild and free.
A moment of calm in a world of haste,
A reminder that beauty’s never a waste. As they move, they leave no mark,
But their presence brightens the dark.
Like fleeting thoughts, like dreams we chase,
Rose petals drift, in love’s embrace.Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Marie, this poem beautifully describes the feeling of weightlessness and joy that come with the safety of being loved. I love how you describe the petals as being carried by “a peaceful embrace.” The love is so sweet and gentle that it doesn’t even leave a mark. Thank you for sharing this lovely poem!
