    Dear Anxiety

Hold my hand. Gently grab these fingers and walk with me.
I have something to share with you.
    Let’s go for a walk.

I know it’s in your nature to save me. To protect me.
I’m here to let you know, it’s okay.
I understand your job, but right now, your job is on hold.
    I’ve got this now.
It’s time for you to take a break.

I know it’ll be hard for you to come to terms with it, but I’m okay.
I’m safe now. I’ve found the middle ground.
You don’t need to cover me with your comfort shield.
    I’ve got this. I promise.

You can go lay down and rest.
    Shut your eyes.
    Silence the noise.
    Relax.

    Sincerely,
    Me

  • A Journey to Self-Discovery

    You Discover to Recover .
Life is not about waking up, working, eating, and sleeping. It is not about surviving day by day without questioning why you are here. Life is a journey of self-discovery. It is about peeling back everything that has been placed upon you—your name, your culture, your beliefs—and finding out who you truly are.
Many people go through life lost, not because they are incapable, but because they have never taken the time to discover themselves. They live based on the expectations of their parents, society, religion, and culture, never realizing that all of these things are external influences. But the truth is,  you are more than your identity. We must awaken to the realization that we are not just physical beings, but spiritual entities, connected to the universe and all its wonders. This journey of self-discovery is the foundation upon which we build our lives, and it’s crucial that we grasp these fundamental concepts to unlock our full potential and fulfill our divine purpose. You must  discover yourself to recover from all the confusion, limitations, and doubts that the world has placed upon you. Only when you truly know yourself can you live a meaningful life. This journey is about unlearning what you thought was you and stepping into the truth of who you really are.
1: Who Are You? (Beyond Your Name and Identity)
The first step in self-discovery is asking:  Who am I?
Most people believe they are their name, their nationality, or their religion. But if you remove those things, what is left? Who were you before you were given a name? Who were you before you were taught to think a certain way? The truth is, you are not your identity—you are the one experiencing the identity.  You are not your body—you are the one inside the body. You are not your thoughts—you are the one  watching the thoughts. As we delve deeper into our inner world, we’ll discover that our true essence is not just a physical body, but a multidimensional being, consisting of body, mind, and spirit. We are a spark of the divine, a droplet of the infinite ocean, and our true nature is connected to the universe and all its wonders. We must discover who we are, what we stand for, and what our values and principles are.
How to Discover Who You Truly Are
    1. Question everything. Why do you believe what you believe? Did you choose it, or was it given to you?
    2. Spend time alone. Without distractions, you begin to hear your own voice.
    3. Observe yourself.  Notice your emotions, your habits, and your instincts. They tell you more about yourself than words ever can.
    4. Listen to your intuition.  Deep inside, you already know who you are. The problem is, the world has silenced that voice.
Once you begin to separate yourself from the labels placed upon you, you will start to feel lighter because you are returning to your true self.
Step 2: Where Are You? (Understanding Your Environment)
Once you know who you are, the next question is:  Where are you?  Not just physically, but spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
Your environment is not just the place you live—it is everything around you that shapes your mind. The people you talk to, the beliefs you hold, the energy that surrounds you—all of these things influence your growth. By recognizing our place in the world, we can begin to appreciate the complexities and nuances of our existence. We are not separate from the world around us, but an integral part of it. We are connected to the earth, the air, the water, and the fire, and our actions have a profound impact on the delicate balance of nature. We must understand our role in the world, our responsibilities, and our contribution to the greater good.
How to Discover Where You Are
    1. Look at your surroundings. Are they helping you grow or keeping you trapped?
    2. Pay attention to your emotions. Do you feel free, or do you feel stuck?
    3. Check your energy.  Are you in a place where your true self can thrive, or are you just surviving?
A seed planted in the wrong soil will never grow. The same applies to humans. If you are in an environment that limits your mind, you will never evolve. Sometimes, the only way to truly discover yourself is to change where you are. If your surroundings do not support your growth, you must seek out a new space—mentally, emotionally, or even physically.
Step 3: Why Are You Here? (Discovering Your Life Purpose)
This is the question that separates those who live with meaning from those who simply exist:  Why are you here? No  one is here by accident. Every soul that enters this world has a purpose, a role to play in the grand design of the universe. But most people never find their purpose because they never ask the right questions. Your purpose is not just about having a job or making money. It is about what you give to the world, what you  create,  what you  build. It is about the energy you bring to others and the mark you leave behind. We must discover our mission, our vision, and our reason for being. This self-awareness will guide us to live a life that is authentic, meaningful, and help us fulfill our divine purpose.
    How to Discover Your Purpose
    1. Look at what excites you. What do you love doing, even when no one is watching?
    2. Pay attention to what people come to you for.  What do others naturally seek your help with?
    3. Think about what challenges you’ve overcome. Your greatest struggles often prepare you for your greatest purpose.
    4. Listen to your inner voice.  What is that one thing you’ve always felt called to do?
Purpose is not something you find—it is something you uncover.  It has always been inside you, waiting for you to remember it.
    The Truth About Life
Many people search for meaning in books, religions, and other people. But the truth is,  the answers you seek are already inside you. The problem is, most people are too distracted to listen. Life is not about waiting for something to happen. It is about actively discovering who you are, where you are, and why you are here. Because the moment you answer these three questions,  everything changes. You stop living in fear. You stop following the crowd. You stop searching for validation. As we navigate this journey, we’ll encounter various spiritual principles that will guide us on our path. We’ll discover the law of attraction, the power of intention, and the importance of mindfulness. We’ll learn to cultivate gratitude, compassion, and forgiveness, and we’ll understand the value of living in the present moment
You become  who you were always meant to be.
So start today. Discover yourself. And in doing so, recover the life you were meant to live.

  • The Weight of a Warrior’s Heart

    To the world,

You see a man—strong, unshaken, a fortress of resilience. A veteran, a father, a poet, a dreamer. You see the ink I spill, the laughter I share, the mask I wear in the daylight. You see the pieces I choose to show.

But do you see me? Do you really see me?

You call me tough because I have endured. You say I am lucky because I survived. But survival is not the same as living, and endurance is not the same as being whole. I have carried battles within my soul long after the battlefield was left behind. I have fought wars with silence, with memories, with ghosts that refuse to rest. And yet, when I speak of the weight of these unseen scars, the world shifts uncomfortably, as if pain should only exist where the eye can see.

They tell me to move on, as if grief is a door I forgot to close. They say love will come when I stop looking, as if my heart is a wound I refuse to heal. They say men should be strong, as if strength is the absence of suffering, rather than the courage to face it.

I am misunderstood in the way I love too deeply yet hesitate to trust. In the way I long for connection yet fear the sting of betrayal. In the way I wear my past like armor, yet beneath it, my soul is bare. I have stood in the fire and emerged—scarred, yes, but standing. And still, they see only the steel, never the burn marks beneath.

They misunderstand the way I dream. That I can be a warrior and a poet. That I can seek adventure yet crave stability. That I can love without surrendering my identity. They misunderstand that I am not lost, even when my road is winding.

But hear me now, world—I am not just the stories of my past, nor the expectations you place upon me. I am more than the mistakes I have made, the battles I have fought, the pain I have carried. I am the sum of my scars and my healing, my losses and my triumphs. I am not just a man who endures—I am a man who feels, who loves, who dreams, who dares to speak his truth.

And even if you misunderstand me, I will not silence myself to make you comfortable.

    With strength and truth,

  • The Illusion of the Future

    A Reflection on Existence

The concept of the  future is one of the greatest deceptions ever accepted by the human mind. We are taught from childhood to believe in it, to chase it, to plan for it, as if it is something real, something tangible, something awaiting us. But the truth is, the future does not exist.  It never has. It is nothing more than a thought, a projection of the mind that keeps us distracted from the only thing that has ever truly existed:  the present moment.

We live under the illusion of time, dividing it into past, present, and future, as if these are separate realities when in truth,  they are all the same. There is no past. There is no future. There is only NOW Whatever you call the past was once  NOW. Whatever you call the future will only ever arrive as NOW. So what, then, is the difference? There is none.

    The Deception of Time
Human beings have created clocks, calendars, and timelines to measure existence, but energy, the very essence of life, does not move in a straight line. It is not bound by beginning or end. It simply  IS Everything you have ever been, everything you will ever be, already exists within you right now. Time is not a force of nature; it is a mental construct, a tool designed to help us function within this three-dimensional world. But a tool is not reality.

We deceive ourselves into believing that the future holds something different, something more, something greater. “One day, I will be happy.” “One day, I will have everything I need.” “One day, I will understand.” But that  one day never comes. Because whenever it does, it is no longer the future, it is just another NOW If you cannot enjoy something now, you will never enjoy it at all.

    What About the Past?
If there is no future, does that mean there is no past? Yes. Because past and future are two sides of the same illusion. The past is nothing more than a memory, a story we tell ourselves, shaped by perception, colored by emotion. It does not exist outside of our minds. Just like the future, it is a projection. We say, This happened, but all that truly exists is our remembrance of it right now.

And yet, everything is energy. Energy is not born, nor does it die,it simply changes form. It has no beginning, no end, and no direction. If something has no origin and no destination, how can it have a past or a future? It cannot. The only reality is the infinite unfolding of energy, experienced through the limited perception of human consciousness.

    The Purpose of Human Existence
So why are we here? Why this world, this experience? Because Earth is a gathering place for energy. Everything you see, everything you touch, everything you ARE it is all energy, interacting, reflecting, learning from itself. You do not know yourself without me, just as I do not know myself without you. Our existence is defined by the presence of others.

Humanity is not just a species, it is a  stage in consciousness. A temporary phase, a learning process. When our understanding of this world is complete, when we have taken all we need from this form, we transcend. We evolve into something else, something higher, something more refined. Perhaps an angel, perhaps a god, perhaps something beyond even our current imagination.

But the transition is not automatic. The energy you cultivate here determines what you become next. You could ascend into higher consciousness, or you could descend into something darker. A monster, a lost spirit, a force trapped in endless cycles of confusion. The choice is yours, shaped by the awareness you develop while in this body.

    The Only Truth
So if the future does not exist, and the past is only a memory, what is left?

Only THIS; This moment, this breath, this feeling. The only purpose, the only true responsibility we have, is to make this existence meaningful. Not by waiting for the future, not by being trapped in the past, but by understanding  the now. Because this is all there is, and all there will ever be.

  • Quiet Storm

My perception of life allows insight into things that are often missed by others.

I choose to be silent, letting my written words say what takes my breath away.

I see the injustices, and relentless undertones. So many are inflicted by a hate that they have never had or known.

All for the sake of being different.

Looking away from a person who may have been born with deformities.
    Blind, deaf or lame.
Even those who are impaired mentally.

There are times I burst into tears, but it’s not for me as much as it is for others.

Some consider me to be fragile or too sensitive, not grasping the burden it carries to care.

I feel crushed in return… getting a clearer picture of Yashua, connected by DNA, his blood running through my veins.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

Yes, Yashua is my brother, and God’s first Son.

I suspect for such an uncommon belief not to be received.

Saddened by the amount of misunderstanding of me it brings.

Aware of the way others look at me. Not so much about beauty, but this certain je ne sais quoi encountered by my presence.

Some have lashed out at me in hopes of a reaction, because I remain composed and calm during times of chaos.

I have been called the “quiet storm”.

  • The illusion of Quietness

    To those who seek silence,

There is a belief—a fragile, deceptive belief—that somewhere, somehow, quietness exists. That if one escapes far enough, buries themselves deep enough in solitude, or stills their mind with enough discipline, they will finally find it. But the truth is, quietness is an illusion. You will never know this until you become quiet yourself.

The moment you sit in what you think is silence, you realize—there is no such thing. The world hums, vibrates, whispers beneath its breath. The wind murmurs through the trees. The walls creak as if sighing under the weight of time. Even your own body, the very thing you seek to still, betrays you—the steady rhythm of your breath, the pulsing of your blood, the subtle ringing in your ears that you had never noticed before.  Even in the most desolate places, there is sound.

And yet, in the modern world, we are so flooded with distractions that we do not even recognize the absence of quietness.  Noise has become our default state. The endless hum of technology, the constant barrage of notifications, the artificial voices that demand our attention—these things do not just fill space, they erase our ability to perceive true presence.  Social media, smartphones, and the digital world have not just taken our attention; they have stolen our ability to experience memory in its purest form. When noise never stops, reflection never begins.

Memory itself is tied to quietness. True recollection happens in stillness, in the absence of external noise. But how can one remember when they are never still? How can one reflect when their mind is constantly being filled with artificial chatter? The ability to be alone with one’s thoughts has become a lost art, drowned beneath the never-ending stream of information.

And what of death? If one cannot find quietness in life, can they find it in death? Perhaps not. For even then, the soul is energy, and  energy never truly rests. Frequency exists beyond the physical, and who is to say that the afterlife is not just another form of vibration, another realm of sound beyond what we can perceive? Silence, true silence, may not even belong to the dead.

So, if quietness is an illusion, what is left?  Awareness. To recognize that you will never escape sound, that you will never truly silence the world, but that in understanding this, you can choose which sounds you allow into your mind. You can choose to hear yourself beyond the noise. And maybe, just maybe, that is as close as we will ever come to quietness.

  • MISUNDERSTOOD OR JUST SOCIETY ISSUES?

    Dear Unsealed,
I do not know where to begin but I will begin to write as my subconscious dictates the story. I grew up when women did not have rights. Now in 2025 we are back to the same male patriarchal society. I felt very misunderstood throughout my whole life. As an empath and creative personality, I still feel misunderstood around judgmental people
I was led to believe that the man held authority over everything. Back in the fifties white male misogynist pigs dominated it. Now we are back to this same idiocrasy of white men wanting to dominate everyone and everything.
I, and other women were taught to get married, have three babies, buy a house, and serve your man cocktails when he gets home from work. Some households were extremely strict with their women. Women were not allowed to buy a house or buy a car until the 1970s. now we are back here again with white male dominance.
I was married at 20 for a brief period. The marriage was annulled due to incompatibility. The thoughts of some families were to marry their daughters off to a man to take care of them. If one is raised in this culture, you either accept it or rebel against the whit male patriarchy. I rebelled.
I am going to make this into a noticeably short story. My message to women of every culture do not let your man dominate you. Rebel against such nonsense. Men who want to control are very insecure and have severe mental issues of paranoia.
I would not have married the car race guy if my mom had not insisted, I needed to get married to fulfill her dream. I briefly accepted the mentality of that era. I was always in a fight or flight mode for many years.
I suggest to younger ladies do not succumb to the lunacy of a male patriarchal society.
My father was not like that. He wanted me to learn mechanical work. My mom was oh no I could not learn mechanics as I was prima donna girl. My dad and mom had an argument about that issue.
My philosophy is do not let anyone push you into marrying just to get married. Love is love. I am an ally of the LGBTQ people.
I now instruct people: we are one human being species with many cultures, ethnicities, languages, different skin pigmentation, and personalities.
What I learned through my years from 1949 to 2025 is do not let a man talk you into having his babies, especially if you just began to date. That is a red flag of dominance and how the misogynist sees your worth as a woman. I say block him on social media, refuse his phone calls, and ignore him if you see him out and about. Watch for red flags of narcissism in every relationship. If you are the narcissist then crumble the story, throw it away because a narcissist cannot change. If you are an empath, then stay as far away from the narcissist as you can. If you are not either of those personality types, then take heed to watch for red flags to prevent an abusive relationship.
My advice is to focus on your career, go to college, and refuse to acknowledge people who condescend you as a human being. Walk away from a future abusive relationship.
I was boy crazy at ten years old. I read teen magazines and idolized boys in the band. I matured young, as I began puberty at age ten. My advice to me would be to focus on writing for the teen magazine instead of being google eyed over the cuties in the band.
As of now I am 75 years old. I accepted a coffee date with an old guy. I told him someday soon. I have known him for two years. I want platonic relationships and at this age there is no intention of anything but friendship.
This concludes this short story, focusing on one aspect of my life among many others. I have a lot of stories to tell. I shall write them all one day. Perhaps I should include the X-rated too.
I have survived all those relationships as I have learned that I did not always make the right choices. As one grows up to maturity you learn to appreciate the times you made the correct choices and to always remember the consequences of making the wrong choices.

If you feel misunderstood, then analyze the situation or walk away.
    Peace everyone!
    Be yourself everyone!

  • My Letter 2 Music

    Dear Music,

You have been my first love, my most loyal companion, and my greatest storyteller. Before I even knew how to express myself fully, you spoke for me. You carried my joy, my pain, my anger, and my healing in melodies, in beats, in lyrics that felt like they were written just for me.
When the world felt too loud, you gave me rhythm. When silence was too heavy, you filled it with sound. You have never judged me for how I felt-you simply embraced me, wrapped me in harmonies, and let me be.
You have been my bridge to places I have never been, to people I have never met. You break barriers, crossing languages and cultures, bringing souls together in a way nothing else can. Through you, strangers have become family, and stories have been passed down like sacred traditions.
Whether I was dancing in joy, drowning in sorrow, or standing in quiet reflection, you have always been there. Guiding me. Holding me. Reminding me that I am not alone.
Thank you for your presence in every stage of my life. For being my escape, my therapy, my celebration. Thank you for giving me the courage to tell my own stories. I will always love you. I will always need you.

***A Poem for the Fallen Soldiers and Officers**

They rose each day, laced their boots tight,
Stepped into the dark to carry the light.
Not for the glory, not for the fame,
But to answer the call-no matter the name.

Through city streets and quiet towns,
They stood tall when the world broke down.
A shield of honor, a heart so brave,
A promise given, a life they gave.

Their voices echo in whispered wind,
In every life they swore to defend.
Their footsteps linger, though they are gone.
In every dawn, their spirit shines on.

To the families left with empty space,
    Love remains-it can’t be erased.
    Their sacrifice, a heavy toll,
But love and courage never grow cold.

So we stand today with heads held high,
Saluting those who touched the sky.
Gone too soon, yet never apart,
    Forever alive in memory’s heart.

    • Marie, this poem brought me to tears. So many put their lives on the line each day and they aren’t often given the credit that they deserve. I love the message you wrote to the families that suffer when someone is lost too soon. You are right that the love will always remain and cannot be taken from them. Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem.

  • A Love Letter To Communication

    My Dearest Communication,

From the moment I entered the world, before I could even form a word, you were there. The cries of a newborn, in the touch of a mother’s hand, in the unspoken language of your eyes, you made your presence known. you are not just a tool, not just a method, we are nothing without you. You are the silent force that moves the world, the unseen thread that weaves humanity together.

I have loved you in ways, I cannot describe, yet everytime I try, I realize that even the attempt itself is an act of loving you. You are the reason I exist with purpose, the force that allowsme to takethoughts from the depths of my mind and place them into the hearts of others. You are not just a speech, not just words on a page, you are an action, emotion, existence itself.

Everything I do, everything anyone does, begins and ends with you. A handshake, a glance, a carefully crafted letter, all of it is your expression. Without you, silence is not peace; it is a void. Without you, progress is not possible. What is leadership without words? What is love without expression? What is existence if not the constant exchange of signals, gestures, and messages that define our very nature?

You are not bound by sound, nor by sight, nor by language. You live in the subtlety of a raised eyebrow, in the rhythm of music, inthe blinking lights of technology speaking to one another. Every wave to a friend, every story passed down through generations, every revolution that has ever begun with the words, “enough is enough”, all of it is you.

You are the unseen architect of civilization. Without you, there are no laws, no literature, no connection between minds.

Every invention that has ever changes the world, started with you. A scientist speakes to his ideas before he builds. A writer listens to his soul before he creates. A lover whispers before they embrace. Everything begins with you.

And that is why I love you. Not because you merely exist but because you are existence , itself. You are the greatest power we have ever known.

So, I dedicate my life to you. Not just as a speaker, a writer, a thinker, but as someone who understands that without you, I am nothing.

    With All My Heart,

    • William, communication truly is what makes the world go around. I love how you mentioned being a baby and communicating from the time you were born, even though words were unknown to you. So much of our communication comes is nonverbal, and really, I think we learn more from that than from other forms of communication. Thank you for sharing this…read more

It’s a universal language that connects us from the moment we take our first breath. • A Love Letter to the 70s

    Dear 70s Era,

As I reflect on all the things you ushered in, I realize there will never be another era like you in any other lifetime.

I love you for the way you created a pathway for the African American community to thrive in.

You helped define our style and creativity. You allowed us to be our authentic selves.

    Passionate, Loud, Black and Proud.
From our unique hand shakes to the textures of our hair that were worn in cornrows, afros, and dreads.

I believe the 70s understood the assignment of equality. There was room for all ethnicities who had different cultural backgrounds.

The 70s brought us all together through Love (God is love).

Yes, hatred and division took jabs, but there were few.

You embraced us, where some who were “not like us” shunned away as if we didn’t belong.

I would be amiss if I didn’t say how much I miss you.

I will always be thankful for the memories.

    • San, though I was not alive in the 70s, I can see what you mean about the love and equality that was present during the time. Looking back on history, it is obvious that the 70s transformed this country and paved the way for a move inclusive future. I am jealous that you got to experience it! Thank you for sharing!

      • Hi Emmy – Yes, the 70s were the best era. I was just a young teenager during those times, however, I am thankful to experience what I did. I appreciate your input, and taking the time to study that time in history. Your words are inspiring.

  • Rhythm and Poetry

Lifting beats and melodies like organized crime
Sifting through grime to illustrate life and times
Lines and rhymes, breaking down enzymes
To wit- meaning to spit, mumblin ain’t shit.
Full of grit: giving and taking some hits.
The message runs deeper than the river Thames.
Dropping their knowledge like precious gems
Giving strength for the struggle, energy for the hustle
Tips for the tussles, all in my car – on shuffle.
Rhythm and Poetry, Rhythm and Poetry

Cruising around the block in my Honda Fit
Regulating soundwaves with old school hits You feel the bass blaring up and down the street.
Music aids my focus, makes life complete.
All day with my headphones on, I’m lost in the beat.
Looking for some paper, gotta find a sheet
To write down some verses and spark that heat
While spitting words uplifting, I’m regifting
Stray ideas sifting; minds been drifting
To rhythm and poetry, rhythm and poetry

    • This is a beautiful poem that captures your love for rhythm and poetry. Most people enjoy music, but some find comfort in the beats and lyrics that change their lives. The fact that you have the talent to not simply enjoy music but also to create it is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your experience!

  • My Fortress of Solitude

Dear Fortress, I write to you from the quietest corner of my heart, a space only you and I truly know.

Within your walls, the noise of the world fades, replaced by the gentle echo of my own thoughts. It’s a sound that resonates deep within, a profound melody that guides me back to myself.

They see an empty room, a lonely space, but I see a universe contained within these walls. Like the pages of a beloved book, my thoughts unfold, revealing stories and insights I never knew existed.

Here, in your stillness, I learn to observe my emotions without judgment, watching them rise and fall like the tides. There’s no need to rush, no need to hide, for in your presence, I am free to be myself.

You are my silent stream of strength, Fortress, a place where I can retreat from the chaos of the world and reconnect with my inner peace.

You are the place where I find the stillness that others can not. Like the feeling of being within the pages of a good book, you surround me with peace.

Thank you, Fortress, for being my constant refuge, my anchor in the storm. I leave your presence feeling renewed, my spirit strengthened by the quiet power I have found within your walls.

    • Alexis, I feel like most humans do not spend enough time in true solitude. Though we may be alone physically, it is a lot harder to disconnect from technology and truly be present all on our own. Sometimes, being alone even seems scary. I’m glad that you find comfort and peace in solitude and that it renews your spirit. Thank you for sharing!

  • Is This Love Oar What?

My body weight presses down upon you,
    Pushing you under the water,
    But you do not protest.
    You do not fight back,
    Although movement consumes you,
As you rock to and fro.
    Seconds pass,
    Turning into minutes.
    Still, you move,
    As I sit atop you,
Readying myself for our aqueous pas de deux,
    While nearby witnesses idle by,
Paying little heed to our commingling.
    I have no regrets
    Being seen with you,
Mostly by water fowl near shore.
    Oh, my kayak,
How I love riding the water
On top of your rotomolded plastic form.
My love for you cannot be kept secret,
Thanks to your neon lime green color
    That is visible from space.
It eliminates any chance of a clandestine paddle,
When we are as one on the water.
You take such care of me,
    Bravely protecting my bottom,
As you scratch and ding yours
    On submerged rocks and branches.
You warn me with a metal placard
    Riveted to your green skin
Of a 225 lb. max weight capacity.
    Is that because of concern
That the extra pounds I carry
May result in health-related issues for me,
    Like diabetes and high cholesterol?
Or is that a federally mandated requirement
    For water craft to display?
    I hope the former
    And blush at your thoughtfulness.
    When I first saw you,
Your charms were impossible to resist,
    Especially your ability
    To fit into my SUV
    With the seats folded flat,
Saving me the cost of a roof carrier.
    Always thinking of me,
    Aren’t you?
You remain constantly on my mind,
As you are visible from our family room window,
    Sitting idly under our pergola
That was once used for entertaining,
But now is repurposed for kayak storage,
    Much to my wife’s displeasure.
What she doesn’t realize is that seeing you
Inspires me to slide my ample posterior
    Into your inviting lime hull
For a workout on the river
To shed pounds like you shed water.
Well, perhaps not pounds but ounces.
Okay, would you believe one ounce,
    If I paddle really hard?
That maximum weight capacity may be reached
    Someday in the future.
But thanks to you, my kayak,
    Not today.
    I dip my paddle
And steal away across the water
    With my love.

    • James, I always found it so cool that a simple activity like that could change us so much as people. Hobbies/little things that make people who they are are so adorable to me and they make every person unique. I’m glad you have a passion for something like this in your life ☻

    Emotional Creatures

    Some of us worry about
    “Certain features”,
    We go through “desperate measures”.
To provide some type of pleasure.
    We’re Constantly under pressure,
    Fighting with gravity.
    We are searching and looking
    Browsing at eye candy,
    Looks are appealing, but
    To get a taste.
    You might Unwrap other
    Feelings!
    Revealing the mind is
    So divine,
    Sometimes it’s quiet and unspoken,
    Then sometimes it’s loud!
    When it’s provoken,
    Soo, maybe….it’s better to
    Leave it unopened.
The power of emotions, blows up!
    Some atomic fluids flowing. Now,
    We’re chemically influenced.

    • Michael, I love how you explain the complexity of emotions we encounter as humans each day. Our emotions have the power to influence us in a variety of ways and in many cases, we are unable to control them. It is so interesting that we have such little power against something that is so prevalent in our lives. Thank you for sharing this poem!
