Dear younger me
Dear younger me
Put those pills down you don’t want to die
Everything you believe now is a lie
Those days of crying in the bathroom because you had to eat alone
Or sadness because he didn’t call your phone
Won’t matter 15 years from now I promiseThere will be a lot of pain you will go through
Your heart will hurt so bad you won’t now what to do
You’ll drink your sorrows away
Waiting just waiting for the day
That everything will changeAll the pain you have endured over the years will make you stronger and make you the best mom you can be
And finally you’ll feel completeSo put the razor away
You’ll have enough scars that won’t fade
But you will be grateful for the scars on your heart
Because in the end it’ll make you strong enough to give you and your daughter a fresh start
To give her a life that you never had
So trust me everything your feeling now won’t feel so bad
Because you’ll give life to the light you always neededVoting is closed

Aw, the ending is so cute! Finding gratitude for the scars on your heart is a beautiful thing. I think it’s wonderful that we have the privilege to love so deeply, and I’m glad you see the joy in that, too 🙂 Thank you for sharing

Big Little You
You wish to be small
Slight and petite
Not round like a ball
Atop two chubby feetYou want to fit in
With those in your school
To be popular, thin
Not solely uncoolWhy can’t you be skinny
Like others your grade
Dress in skirts mini-
Not big and homemadeBut hold it, I say
To big little you
Soon comes the day
Adolescence is throughAt age twenty-nine
With determination and grit
I promise you’re fine
Keep at it, don’t quitRealizing long last
Being strong is what’s best
Leaving diets in the past
You pass the qualifying testNow, a personal trainer
Group fitness leader
Sometimes entertainer
Always positivity feederThe joy you’ll discover
In this health career choice
Will help your recover
And find your own voiceSo, please don’t you fear
Dear big, little you
Your future is near
Your dream will come trueVoting is closed

Aww, Big Little You is such a perfect title. As a former fat kid, I heavily relate to wishing I could be skinny and small like everyone else. I constantly felt like I took up too much space until I realized we should take up space! I’m glad you used your voice to take up space in this community 🙂 Please keep sharing

"You'll Get Wrinkles If You Worry!"
Dear Younger Me,
Why did we worry so much? We were always told not to worry about things we can’t control and yet, we did. Is it because worrying gives a sense of control? Maybe it helps us feel better if we try and figure out why we are worrying about something? Does worrying calm our mind like stimming does for someone on the autism spectrum? Mamaw always told us “you’ll get wrinkles in your forehead if you keep worrying!” and although we have a baby face, she was right. There is no use in worrying over things we can’t control. So, take a deep breath, sit back, listen to some music and just let go.Voting is closed

hehehe this is such a warm reminder! You’re right, worries just give us wrinkles and not often solutions, so we have to remember to let go 🙂 Thank you for sharing!

Love this message. It is so true that worrying gives us the false sense that we can control things. And we really just need live life and let it happen. Trying to control life never works and probably does give you wrinkles. Thank you for sharing. <3 Lauren

Alexis Gavin
I know you stress,
Because I put you to the test.
I know you’re scared of the unknown,
But I’m here and I’m grown.
You’ll hurt yourself along the way,
But you’ll live to see a sober day.
Almost 33 now,
I know…we’re both asking how???
The pain is strong,
But come along!!!
You’re clinging to music,
That’s good. We’re going to use it!!!
Those artists will know your name,
I’m still working hard and we haven’t hit Fame.
Not yet, at least,
keep going. It’s no doubt you’re a beast.
Some call you Savage
you desire a life of lavish.
You’re not wrong… The mission is bigger than you think.
But come along and I’ll take you where we belong.
You’ll cry and ocean’s worth of tears,
I mean literally for years…
But don’t ever forget that song
We’ll take every shot you got
I don’t know it all,
but your phone they will call.
I’m trying to close some deals,
prepare us some meals.
To be eat like a queen
by your idols you will be seen.
We’re making a difference
Stay positive in your Deliverance
It’s time for me to go
I can’t wait to watch you grow
I love you the most
That I need you to know…
Breathe deep
Cuz your future I keep!!!Lexileggo

Congratulations on your sobriety! That is a huge mountain to overcome, and that’s super inspiring. I also love the way you rhymed in your piece; your flow is creative and sets your story apart 🙂
