    E-motional-Picture

    Heart went up in smoke.
    Then turned cold,
    Watching time unfold
    As I inhale & exhale.
    Observing the twists & turns
    Of my vapors fading.
    Just an observation, manipulating
    “My space” through
    (Time) as i Emit energy.
    Particles partially fading
    In a particular way.
    To capture a picture.
    Would be soo… captivating.
    “Slow motion” catching a glimpse
    Of 《time》 fading.

    • Michael, this is a powerful poem. It is amazing how time is something that we base our entire lives on but also something that cannot be touched, captured, or duplicated. You are right that it would be captivating to catch a glimpse of time as it comes and goes in our lives. Thank you for sharing this piece!

    Time Collapse

    Time collapsed, reached
    That destination.
    Time to take it further.
    Contemplating and recalculating
    With another goal to reach.
    Time consuming with
    Work, reading & writing
Wonders of where to venture off to next.
Feet firmly planted trying to stay one step Ahead, staying in the moment & mixed past
Times for the “future” in the present.
Tenacious Times fall with a gift.

    • Michael, I really like the way you describe time in your poetry. It is such a fundamental part of our existence and we get so caught up in “making” enough time to reach our goals. In reality, humans are just vessels that time travels through without pause. We only have a finite amount of time and should do our best to appreciate it.

    One Day

    One day
I’ll have all that I need
And I won’t have to stress
    About making it to
    Tomorrow
    In one piece.

    One day
    I’ll be on the beach
    Sipping on margaritas
    And working on that tan
    Without it becoming a
    Red lobster burn.

    One day
    Is all I need
    To have my day
    In the sun,
    To finally be
    THAT person.

    One day
    There won’t be
    A Climate of Fear
    Choking me
    Every time I dare
    To speak against horror.

    One day
    We’ll all realize
    The preciousness of sharing
    This finite world
    And finally work for
    The sake of preserving
    Life great and small.

    One day
    Is perhaps the
    Single worst word pairing
    In the English language.
    It’s a panacea at best.
A half hearted no at worst.

    One day
    Hangs loosely in
    The future
    As I finish this.
    I’ll say it less
    Someday. One day.

    • Mairi, I am speechless! You are so right that we think we will get to where we want to be “one day” but we should instead focus on being who and what we want in the present. Your words have inspired me and I will work to say “one day” less in the future as well. Thank you for sharing!

    Royal Tree

    Planting a royal tree,
    It blossoms with love
    Grown with loyalty.
    Sprouted in the darkness.
With the crown loving the light.
    Rooted in nature, with water
    Becoming bigger & stronger.
Benefits from the Fruits of my labor.
Self love being plucked and enjoyed
New roots & branches being exploited.

    Quasar

Astronomically puzzling, I always still find myself agaze
Occurring in the center of a galaxy, my tiny human mind tries to grasp the pure complexity
Black holes, gasses in space, churning at a rate that would vaporize me alive if I ever even got close enough to visit
Would it be worth it to travel light years away and somehow, though risk it?
    Still, I humbly think
The brightness, energy, and radio waves expose us without our awareness.
    It spins around glowing
    Age, totally unknowing
Maybe one day I will experience one’s glow
But for today, I do not know
On a quantum level, perhaps they play apart in helping me grow

    Notes

My phone is filled with notes
A continuation of fragmented phrases pieced together with intention
    Folding neatly within each other
    Yet so scattered
As I continue on this journey to clarification
    Love
I bring up the word love
The feeling of the word love
    four letters depicting emotion
Viewing the world differently because of it
I know my love is near
Arms reached out in eye range
    Filled with the feeling
    Overflowing with thought
    Joy fills my notes
Although these fragmented phrases run across my phone
In due time it will all make sense and all the pieces will be where they need to be.

    Her Ex

I know I’m supposed to hate you,
and by all rights, I should.
You’re the man who loved her before me,
and you didn’t treat her good.

She came to me so broken,
her trust was crushed to pieces.
I worked so hard to mend it,
    Bringing her flowers and Reese’s.

    You never liked her laugh,
So she buried it like a coffin.
    I love her wonderful cackle,
and I make her do it often.

She told me about the fights,
all the yelling and the hurt.
The only time we raise our voice,
Is when we’re singing in church.

    You never liked her family,
and her family never liked you.
But when I walk in the door,
    They all cheer “MATTHEW!”

I’m glad you didn’t treat her right,
You taught her a valuable lesson.
And made me work for her love,
    With a pure-heart intention.

I’d like to say that losing her,
Was the biggest mistake of your life.
But you did all the right things,
    to send me my wife.

So I guess I can’t really hate you,
    I don’t have a reason.
In a weird way, I love you, man…
    and thank you for leavin!

    “Her Ex”

    Grace Period

From the instant we arise to the time we go to sleep, we have this possibility to achieve as much as we can in order to succeed for the day.
We have these opportunities to take every experience given and embrace the outcome. Grow from it. Learn from it.
From the time we step foot on the ground from our bed to the time we put that foot back under the covers, we have the chance to make a name for ourselves.
We have the chance to speak our truth. Some may crave reactions from that truth, but that’s the human thing to do. Keep shouting your truth. Keep making a name for yourself.
Life is one big grace period. Each day is just the stepping stone to that period.
The more you live. Accomplish. Succeed. The more time you are given.
From the moment your eyes open to the moment they close, you, the main character of this story, choose just how that grace period will end.

    When the World Burns

Fire rages, winds howl, homes turn to ash in minutes.
Who do we call in these moments, when hope feels like fiction?
Thoughts and prayers? They crumble like dry leaves,
While houseless numbers triple under the Winter Sun’s freeze.

The fighters are few, their strength stretched thin,
Jailhouse volunteers can’t rival the flames’ ruthless spin.
    Insurance retreats—policies denied, claims unspoken—
And the ones who survive are left shattered, broken.

Floods rise, hurricanes roar, tornadoes strip the land bare.
How much destruction before climate change gets its share?
When do we face the truth staring us down:
The earth is on fire, and our leaders let it drown?

Shelter is a myth for the ones disabled,
No ramps, no access—their survival disabled.
Fire, Earth, Air, Water—we’re crumbling, unbound,
Where is our Avatar to bring balance around?

But heroes don’t come; we’re left to our fight.
    Preparedness isn’t a dream—it’s a right.
Billionaires feast while the people burn,
The rubble rises, yet they never learn.

Not Katniss to spark the flames of rebellion,
Not a Mockingjay’s cry, but the voice of a million.
We live in a nation conquered by greed,
An empire of Siths who plant poisoned seeds.

Taxes drain us, sweat and blood flow,
And all we’re handed is a “thoughts and prayers” show.
But this is no act; this is our soil.
A history of neglect, injustice, and toil.

Help us, America, stand with resolve.
This is not disaster; this is a wound long evolved.
Let us rise for the innovators and minds unborn,
To build a world where futures aren’t scorned.

For if we wait, the fire will consume,
Leaving nothing but ash to scatter our bloom.

    Another day, another nickel
All this stress brought on a pimple

    I get cranky and hangry
    Overall angry
Someone just get it over with and hang me

Never mind all that now dear, you are too classy
You just tend to get a little sassy

    Forgotten

Forgotten in the hidden emotions I feel,
Behind the weed and underneath the alcohol,

    SEEN too much,
    HEARD too much,
    KNOW TOO MUCH
    Forgot to SPEAK UP
Because I didn’t know any better
And because you said I didn’t need any help,

So I’m just another “mad black woman” who can do bad all by myself because you said

    black people don’t need therapy

    I listened

I believed you but I forgot to believe me
I was lost because I forgot I was innocent

  • Remembering You

I am a mosaic of cultures, experiences, and dreams, pieced together by the threads of my journey—an artist, a scholar, a healer at heart. Raised in a small community, I learned that the heartbeat of life is connection, the quiet exchange of stories, and the care we offer one another without asking for anything in return. I am a bridge between worlds, shaped by my mother’s teachings and the traditions of the places I’ve lived. Through every challenge, I carry with me the strength and resilience of those who have come before me, and the fire to create a better future for those who come after.

In my heart, I hold an unwavering belief that healing isn’t just about medicine; it’s about compassion, understanding, and the stories that shape us. I believe that every person carries a narrative worthy of being heard, and that by truly listening, we can begin to make the world a kinder place. I’ve dedicated myself to this belief, both in my studies and in the way I live my life—working tirelessly to break barriers, whether they be language, culture, or access to care. I am a student of life, always learning, always adapting, always seeking ways to make a positive impact.

My passions are not confined to one discipline. I’m a student of science, but I also find solace in the quiet flow of yoga, where each breath reminds me that peace is found in stillness, and that strength is born of vulnerability. I carry within me the spirit of adventure, whether in the classroom, the lab, or the community, always seeking new ways to learn and grow. I am a firm believer that the intersection of diverse knowledge—be it the science of the body, the stories of a culture, or the wisdom found in nature—offers the most transformative power.

In my eyes, every day is an opportunity to make the world a little brighter, whether through research, a kind word, or the choice to show up when someone needs support. I am not just a student or a researcher—I am a dreamer, a healer, a person who believes deeply in the power of compassion and the promise of a better tomorrow. The journey ahead is full of possibilities, and I will walk it with an open heart and the unshakable belief that together, we can create a world where everyone has access to the care, the kindness, and the opportunities they deserve.

I’m excited to announce a new project I’ve been working on called the Realistic Newspaper. It is a publication filled with stories from my anonymous peers, as I have kept their identities private for confidentiality.

The Realistic Newspaper features relatable stories, giving everyone a voice to share their experiences. It serves as a safe space for those who want to express their ideas and thoughts. With their permission, I’m dedicated to helping these stories be heard.

I’ve created a QR code that leads to the Realistic Newspaper. You can either scan it or copy and paste the link, and the newspaper will appear. To view it in full screen, simply click the link, and you will have access to the Realistic Newspaper. If you need the QR please don’t hesitate to reach out.

    Pouring out my heart

    Pouring out my heart
    Through this art
    Writing about a new start
Or a moment that my life
    Started to fall apart
    Broken pieces
    Putting together my thesis
    Sharing my painful
    And joyful experiences
So here’s a shot of me
If you’re interested in a drink
    Pouring out my heart
    A shot of love a with a
    Splash hope
    Mixed with life
    Might have you feeling alright
    Pouring out my heart
Grab a glass and fill your cup
    As I share my thoughts
