Remembering You
I am a mosaic of cultures, experiences, and dreams, pieced together by the threads of my journey—an artist, a scholar, a healer at heart. Raised in a small community, I learned that the heartbeat of life is connection, the quiet exchange of stories, and the care we offer one another without asking for anything in return. I am a bridge between worlds, shaped by my mother’s teachings and the traditions of the places I’ve lived. Through every challenge, I carry with me the strength and resilience of those who have come before me, and the fire to create a better future for those who come after.
In my heart, I hold an unwavering belief that healing isn’t just about medicine; it’s about compassion, understanding, and the stories that shape us. I believe that every person carries a narrative worthy of being heard, and that by truly listening, we can begin to make the world a kinder place. I’ve dedicated myself to this belief, both in my studies and in the way I live my life—working tirelessly to break barriers, whether they be language, culture, or access to care. I am a student of life, always learning, always adapting, always seeking ways to make a positive impact.
My passions are not confined to one discipline. I’m a student of science, but I also find solace in the quiet flow of yoga, where each breath reminds me that peace is found in stillness, and that strength is born of vulnerability. I carry within me the spirit of adventure, whether in the classroom, the lab, or the community, always seeking new ways to learn and grow. I am a firm believer that the intersection of diverse knowledge—be it the science of the body, the stories of a culture, or the wisdom found in nature—offers the most transformative power.
In my eyes, every day is an opportunity to make the world a little brighter, whether through research, a kind word, or the choice to show up when someone needs support. I am not just a student or a researcher—I am a dreamer, a healer, a person who believes deeply in the power of compassion and the promise of a better tomorrow. The journey ahead is full of possibilities, and I will walk it with an open heart and the unshakable belief that together, we can create a world where everyone has access to the care, the kindness, and the opportunities they deserve.

Wow! This is such a well-written piece. I love this part, “’m a student of science, but I also find solace in the quiet flow of yoga, where each breath reminds me that peace is found in stillness, and that strength is born of vulnerability.” Strength truly is born in vulnerability, and the ability to recognize that is just so insightful. Write a letter to your fear (Sponsored by ProWritingAid) 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Consider This the End of Us
I am writing to you not with anger or frustration, but with acknowledgment. You have been a companion in my journey, showing up in moments of uncertainty, and self-doubt, and when I’ve faced challenges that seemed insurmountable. Your presence has often been heavy, and your whispers have sometimes convinced me that I wasn’t capable or strong enough to push forward.
You appear when I face new obstacles, such as applying for scholarships, presenting my research, or when I think about my future in medicine and the impact I want to make. You remind me of the risks, the potential for failure, and the weight of my dreams.
But here’s the truth: I have learned not to fear you. I have confronted you, understood your shape and form, and started to understand that you are just a shadow of uncertainty. You don’t define me. You don’t determine my success.
I have chosen to face you head-on. When you show up, I take a deep breath and remind myself of the countless times I’ve succeeded despite the self-doubt you tried to plant. I am reminded of the work I’ve done in my community and the lives I’ve touched in underserved areas. I am reminded of the research I’ve contributed to, and the learning and growth I continue to experience in medical school. My passion to serve, to create equity in healthcare, and to make a difference in the world is far stronger than your whispers.
You might try to make me doubt my abilities, but you won’t win. I have a community of mentors, colleagues, and friends who remind me of my purpose and encourage me to push through the tough moments. I have a resilience that comes from years of facing adversity and turning it into strength.
So, fear, you won’t win. I will not let you stop me from pursuing my dreams and overcoming every challenge that comes my way. You may continue to visit, but you will never have control over my future.
With courage and strength,

Alejandra, your letter to fear is beautiful. You acknowledge fear’s role in your life thus far and the impact it has on you. Though it makes its presence known in times of uncertainty, you are choosing to face it head-on and not let its power control you. Write a thank-you letter or poem to yourself 5 months, 3 weeks ago

I am grateful for you,
for every sunrise you rise to meet,
for each step you take toward dreams,
even when the night felt endless,
and hope was dim.Thank you, for every quiet moment
you chose kindness over blame,
for how you held steady
when the storms came,
and trusted your strength to carry you through. You work so hard,
building a life with bare hands,
molding your future
from lessons and losses,
from grit and grace.I am grateful for your courage,
the way you’ve let wounds heal into wisdom,
the way you face fear and wear it down,
your voice growing stronger
with every hardship you’ve turned into growth. You are resilience in motion,
a story of perseverance
that unfolds with each new chapter.
Thank you for believing in possibility,
for becoming someone you’re proud to be.And as you journey forward,
know that I am grateful for every choice
that’s led you here,
to a life of purpose, strength, and joy—
to a life that is uniquely yours.Voting is closed

Alejandra, this is absolutely amazing. It is powerfully written and well written. I think it’s so important that we feel gratitude toward the person and journey that led us to exactly where we are right now. Thank you for reminding me of that, and thank you for being part of The Unsealed. <3 Lauren

Write a letter to your younger self about a. challenge you faced as a child but have since overcome 5 months, 3 weeks ago
Finding the Light
Dear Younger Me,
I know that you’re carrying a weight that feels unbearable—a pain that you haven’t shared with anyone, maybe because you’re afraid they won’t believe you, or because it hurts too much to say aloud. You’re trying to protect yourself, piece by piece, from a world that has hurt you in a way no one should ever experience. You feel scared, lonely, and maybe even ashamed, but I’m here to tell you: you didn’t do anything wrong. This pain isn’t yours to hold alone, and it doesn’t define you.
I want you to know that healing is possible, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now. There will come a day when you look back on this moment, not with the same pain you feel today but with a sense of strength and pride for having survived it. That inner strength will help you move forward, piece by piece, as you learn to rebuild trust—in yourself and in others.
You’ll come to find people who support you, who understand your story, and who will help you on the days when the memories resurface. You won’t feel this burden alone forever. Therapy, self-care, and the support of people who truly care about you will help you learn how to live again, free from the shadows of what happened. And through it all, you’ll become someone who has a deep well of empathy and resilience, someone who uses their experience to bring compassion to others who have been hurt too.
It’s okay if the healing process is messy and complicated. There will be good days and hard days. But one day, you’ll recognize how strong you are for surviving. You’ll learn to love yourself again and to embrace the parts of you that you felt you had to hide. You are resilient, worthy of love and respect, and you have a future full of hope and healing waiting for you.
When you’re ready, reach out to others for support. You don’t have to face this alone. There’s a whole life ahead, one where you reclaim your happiness, your peace, and your sense of safety. Know that I’m proud of you, just as you are, and that you’ll grow into someone who is courageous, compassionate, and whole.
With all my love and strength,

Aww, Alejandra, I am so sorry for what you went through. I believe you! I went through something too, and for a long time, I was scared to tell people, and I was even scared, like you, to say the truth out loud. It felt like a lot to carry, and maybe if I didn’t say it it wouldn’t be real. But, like you, I eventually found the light. And my secret…read more
