K. Hartsell responded to a letter in topic Write a poem about your goals for 2025 4 months ago
Thank you so much! Yes, I am on a journey to reconnect to my roots and my soul. I’ve been working hard to heal and grow. Trying to let go of years of anger and resentment that have been festering and poisoning me. Thank you for the encouragement and for seeing me.

I love your entire analogy and the metaphor of soup. You illustrated your goal beautifully without being purple-y. It was warm and mostly I love the twist at the end to give that warmth to yourself.

Thank you. That’s the goal. Slow down, enjoy moments, and release toxicity. I wish more people found peace in nature.

New Year's Resolution
This is the year.
The year I let moss grow over my feet.
The year I bathe in the clouds as they kiss the ground.
The year I stretch my fingertips to tickle sun beams.
The year I sleep in the cradle of stars as they whisper lullabies.
The year I let raindrops dance around my smile.
The year I paint over my scars with dandelion wishes. This is the year:
The year I inhale peace and exhale you.Voting is closed

This is beautiful and quite inspiring, I also believe nature is vital and all too often forgotten in our daily lives. I love how you took the time to find the ways to connect!

This is such an inspiring poem! To “inhale peace and exhale you” suggests that you are letting go of an important person in your life who no longer contributes to your peace. I hope that this year gives you a chance to get to know yourself again and embrace all that life puts in your path. Thank you for sharing your hope for the new year.

I love the rhythm and the rhyme scheme! The central idea is powerful and i really resonate with it. You opened and ended with motifs of communication. Well done!

Thank you very much Juvi! I truly wish I’d learned in my youth to break cycle. So much wasted imagination and time. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply!

I love the juxtaposition of the first and final line, being the same words with opposite meanings.

To My Worry
All these thoughts spinning me lies
Wringing me out and leaving me dry
Blinded by the blackened skies
Shadows and haunts creeping by
What- ifs and worries cloud my eyesEating me through from the inside out
Chewing me raw giving me doubt
Like termites in a log, gluttonous they flout.
Stewing in stench as rotting trout
Smothered in silence I can’t scream or shoutHurricanes and stabbing rains
Try to tell myself it’s all in feign
These knotting pits drive me insane
Churning my stomach writhing in pain
Wish I could flush them down the drainDriving safely down the street
Intrusive thoughts that can’t be beat
I should be dead, no reason to be
No right to cry or even to breathe.
Hit the gas, then swerve into the tree.Is it real or make believe?
Drowning, twisting, squirming, tight
Tingling, torture, stinging, fightBiting, choking, scorching, spite
Dead-end turns, endless plight
Waste of time, waste of mightIt’ll be ok, I’ll be alright.
I wish I had seen; I wish I believed
truthfully
You have no power over me!Voting is closed

Wow! What a powerful poem that really captures the torment that negative and anxious thoughts have on us. The what-ifs and worries can escalate so quickly, becoming all-consuming… I know what that feels like. I hope you continue to break those negative thought patterns, because, as you said, they have no power over you!! <3 Juvi

I love the alliteration you use! It makes it flow so smooth just like the curves of a woman’s body.

I absolutely relate to being the “clingy” friend. I wish I had your wisdom when I was your age. I loved it hearing for the first time tonight and I love it again reading and processing it in my own time.

My Aura is Black
My aura is black.
Black because they tried to singe me with deeds,
Black like the sooty soil that nurtures her seeds.
Black because before they knew who I was,
When I was given no choice or even some gauze
Black like the bird that sings to be free
Black because my memories haunt meBlack like the sheep who’s breaking chains.
Black like the hole that’s swallowing pain.
Black like the smoke twirling up through the sky
Black like the panther and her silent battle cry
Black like the ash that softens the earth
Black because now she knows her worthBlack like THAT little dress, brilliant;
the one that makes every woman feel resilient.
Black like the lace of her wings
Black in the sky that midnight brings
Black like the velvet in her gentle coos
Black like silk skin that into she grewSo now instead of green, red, or indigo
My aura is black
Black like obsidian
Black like pearls
Black like geodes
Black because my shadows healed it so.Voting is closed

K, embrace the beauty of your black aura, forged by resilience and growth. It holds the strength of obsidian, the elegance of pearls, and the mystery of geodes. Your shadows have healed you, making your aura a testament to your journey. Embrace it with pride.

K. Hartsell responded to a letter in topic To the people we love 1 years, 11 months ago
Thank you! What had happened was this young person went to pick up his brothers from a friends house and accidentally knocked on the wrong door. The home owner shot him and then no one would help him. It is shocking what people expect children to have to carry and recover from.

Wow. This grinds my gears. Shooting an innocent child because they knocked on your door. This stuff just make me lose hope in humanity. This is sad and I hope that person gets what they deserve.
