Remembering Dani
#loveyoudani
How do you comprehend the incomprehensible?
You were supposed to grow old with us… you weren’t supposed to go at 41. Your light shined too bright to fade out that quickly.
You accomplished so much in your four decades, but damn it, you had so much more to give…
The measure of someone’s life is not in the number of their heartbeats, but how many hearts they touched, and Dani, you touched them all!
Did you leave the world a better place?
Dani, you most certainly did!
You truly conquered life and every challenge it threw your way… you were as I had told you, a badass, a warrior, a fighter!
To paraphrase a famous poem, you did not go gentle into that good night. You raged against the dying of the light!
You were the person who other people admired and aspired to be like…
Your smile truly lit up the room and your laugh was contagious … people gravitated to you for that and your kind soul, which, even though you were a ginger, you definitely had, and it was beautiful! I will make sure your amazing soul lives on in everything I do.
You truly lived the Mrs. Crowther credo…
Be courageous
Care for others
A hero lives in youWith every heartbeat I’ve got left, I will make you proud, so that when we meet again and embrace, you will know that you were never forgotten.
Thank you for being you!
I love you Dani
I will always miss you

Patrick, I am so sorry for your loss. Dani knows how much you love her and how much you miss her. She would have never wanted to hurt you like this. I am so happy though, that she left behind such a powerful legacy and inspired so many people to her. She was amazing. You are so lucky to have found a person like her. Birthday Story
“The two important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why”-Mark Twain.
Life’s numerical milestones have changed .
I view 46 as 30+ 16 rather than 50-4 Mathematically and philosophically.
46 was a nameless nobody . Turning 46 just meant a step closer to the golden years and nothing more than that.
But now , this previously insignificant number has a whole glamour quotient of its own. A modern day new kinda big deal .
Feeling “ 45+1” or “almost 46” does sorta have a grounding undertone to it. A settling sense of self assuredness.
Chances are at this juncture, you are where you shall be for the rest of your life..atleast in most aspects of your life.
So it’s best to acknowledge all of it , embrace it, celebrate the done-its and get over the have-nots.
My so-called big birthday beckons me in a few days. And I feel fine. In reality, I feel more than just fine.I feel feisty and fine. Each day bringing with it an epiphany of sorts. The realization that aging gracefully means learning to detach and step back . Ironically, learning the art of detachment is not a lesson in learning to let go.
It actually involves quite the opposite. It involves recognizing and holding on to all that is relevant and enriching. And no , age is not just a number. How we wish it was! It is way more layered than that.
Physically, the 45 year old body is not and organically should not be what it used to be . Aging naturally is the sign of a life well lived. Trying to reverse age, is trying to relive a life that wasn’t done right the first time.
Mentally, growing older is freeing. With my absolute abandon and unapologetic arrogance , I sense and honestly quite like the new me emerging-subtle silver streaks, sagginess, striations , self love et all! I feel old enough to recognize my mistakes but young enough to make some more!
So bring on my birthday baby, let the wisdom grow and show! On my face, on my cake!
My dear age-Add those candles with each passing year as you wish, but you can never blow out the fire that gets fiercer every minute within me!Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Sarita, I love this so much! Your sense of humor is amazing and made me laugh out loud. As I continue to age, I hope to have such a confident outlook about the changes I experience. Just like you said, they are evidence of a life well-lived. Thank you for sharing!

A Prayer For Bradley
Do you think that it’s possible
for someone to be so good,
that God calls them home
before you think He should? We say it all the time,
“God must have needed him.”
but a lot of those times,
they didn’t even believe in Him.There’s no other reason
that you would call him home,
and his beautiful fiancé
would be left all alone. Now our whole family
is questioning your plan.
Why, God, why
would you take this young man? You’ve broken the heart
of a father and a mother.
And let’s not even mention
what you did to his little brother. The ripples flow further,
they hit my wife too.
Her mother is his aunt
now SHE is mad at you.Granny holds it together,
sewing like a thread.
Even though she’s strong,
she wishes she were dead. This is so unfair,
and all a bit unusual.
But what do you expect,
when a wedding becomes a funeral?RIP Bradley Davis. Forever 23.

we're not meant to fight this battle alone
we’re not meant to fight this battle alone
By: Jim Kellogg
(The Queer Poet)
8-16-34
for my niece, Malorie, and her legacy, “Malorie’s Place”we’re not meant to fight this battle alone
a tired warrior’s cry
screaming in silence
crashing her soul into the world
battles fought valiantlywe’re not meant to fight this battle alone
scared
confused
wanting just one more hit
wanting just one more highwe’re not meant to fight this battle alone
the world crashing in
like the tide against the shore
eroding the vulnerable sand –
her escape, her sanctuarywe’re not meant to fight this battle alone
she wanted to be saved
by a regiment of purple winged angels
in the end
the battle was fought aloneSubscribe  or  log in to reply

Overdose Death
I know you didn’t mean to,
I know you didn’t try.
It was just a stupid mistake,
You didn’t want to die…
You were doing so good,
We were so proud of you!
But good emotions, sometimes,
They’re overwhelming too.
Maybe I should’ve called,
Or answered that last text.
But I didn’t see this coming!
I didn’t know you were next!
I know it’s kinda late now,
And maybe weird to say…
But I love you so much,
And I’ll miss you every day.
This is so unfair,
No one knows how to feel.
I keep waiting to wake up,
Or hear that this isn’t real!
What do I tell the people,
When they ask me how you’ve been?
I suppose, I’ll tell the truth…
That addiction never ends.
I’ll tell them if they’re hurting,
They call always call on me.
I couldn’t be there for you…
But for them, maybe I could be.
Maybe I can help someone,
Maybe they will learn,
That drugs aren’t “the fun you can’t have”…
They’re the hell you don’t deserve.

The Boy Named Rhett
Title: The Boy Named Rhett
Written By: Marli WrightThere is a boy, his name is Rhett, Heaven now his home,
He sings and dances on the clouds, before God’s throne.
He had to leave, reasons unknown, yet on earth his name we cry.
A love so strong, eternal, Rhett’s legacy will stay alive.
Children’s laughter is bright, like in Heaven’s skies,
Angels play and smile, as we remember them with sighs.
And every day, with tearful eyes, another angel friend comes to play,
Welcomed with open arms, may their journey be brightened each day.
In every moment, every breath we take,
Rhett’s spirit shines bright, guiding our way.
Though I held him only briefly, his love now lights my way.Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Echoes of Rhett’s Love
Echoes of Rhett’s Love
By: Marli WrightIn a classroom where dreams unfold,
Where tiny hands reach for stars of gold,
An angel’s spirit softly flies,
Not seen, but felt through loving eyes.
Rhett won’t be here to start first grade,
But with hearts so full of hope and cheer,
We send a part of him each year.
Books and pencils, crayons bright,
To light a young one’s world with light.
Each gift a whisper, soft and neat,
A reminder of Rhett’s love so sweet.
Though our angel’s seat remains empty,
His warmth will touch another deeply.
In these gifts, his love will dwell,
In every book and every tale.
He shares his joy through each small thing,
With every pen and each school swing.
And as the first-grade bell will ring,
Another day is now complete.
Little ones laugh and sing,
Of their days and tales they speak.
As you close the door each day,
Rhett’s love will gladly stay,
Preparing the room for a day anew,
And brightening it with sunshine’s hue.
That is Rhett’s way of saying “I love you.”Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Forever 22
I knew you so well.
And I know as soon as you did it,
regret flooded over you like a river in a rainstorm.
You were filled with it.
Overflowing with sorrow of all you left behind.
Your family,
Your brother,
nephews,
and friends,
are left with unanswered questions
of why.It was a mistake, we know it was.
And I am sorry.
That you felt so much pain in your heart
that you felt it was easier to not be here at all.
To take it all away from yourself like a thief.Except you didn’t just rob yourself,
You robbed everyone who loved you,
Of all the years of joy and happiness that they should have had with you.
And never will. One decision, one mistake,
and yet so many innocent people now suffer
the consequences.
In one instant an entire life in the making,
lost.We were here
But we didn’t hear you calling our names.
But were you even calling?“I’m sorry,” send.
For what?
“Love you.” Send.
What’s going on?
No answer.Bang, gone.
22 years all down the drain,
22 years of laughter,
22 years of joy,
22 years of pain,
22 years of growing,
And learning, and making mistakes.
Except, this mistake you will never learn from. And I continue to ask why.
But yet, I could not be in your head,
I could not feel your pain,
your sadness,
your suffering.
So who am I to place your blame?
If I could, I would have sucked it out of you like a vacuum,
Because you deserved better.I tried to understand,
But I cant.
I know how it feels to want to end it all.
The emptiness,
The gut wrenching feeling that you’re not good enough.
The void that can’t be filled.
To shut the lights off,
Turn off the noise. But even so,
I still can’t justify the mess you made,
Or wrap my head around the facts.
I cant believe what you are capable of.
My wounded heart just doesn’t understand
the wound you endorsed,
At the hands of yourself,It feels surreal,
And I feel angry.
It feels like I’m constantly drowning,
And I’m trying to come up for a breath of air,
But someone is holding me down.
I see the surface, but just I cant reach it,
I’m out of control.Or like I’m in one of those dreams where I am trying to run, but I’m stuck in slow motion.
Or the dream where you throw a punch,
but your fist is too heavy,
And it makes you angrier and angrier.
I’m so furious,
And I want to believe you’re at peace,
But how can I when you have been taken
From everything you love?Your beauty was just too beautiful for the world.
Your kindness was too kind,
Your generosity was too generous,
Your personality was too big,
Your passion was too passionate,
Your strength was too strong. You were too much for this Earth to handle.
Thats why she took you from us.
It took 22 years to find out
that you were too good for this world. You wanted to receive your halo and wings early.
When daddy said you were his Angel,
he didn’t mean it literally,
But I guess you had other plans. Now you will forever be 22 years young.
And I will forever wonder what could have been.Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Finding my Power
Dear Unsealers,
I don’t ever want to be empowered. Please don’t.
If you give me power, you can take it back.
If you find me in a place where I can’t find my power, help me search.
If you find me in a place where I lack courage, teach me something I couldn’t do before.
If you find me in a place where I have more reasons why I can’t, help me discover why I can.
If you see me sitting with boxes of self doubt, with bags of trauma, with a cart full of other’s opinions of me, don’t tell me what you think.
If you stay along side me, ask me what I can do, ask me how I triumphed over my trauma, what I think of myself.
If I understand what I think of myself, what I can do, and how experiences have created in me a richness of strength and emotion that is uniquely mine.
I will know these things are the rich colors in the tapestry of my life.
I will understand the knowledge of myself is far more accurate and important than the things i am told about me.
I will exercise and give strength to knowledge and the skills, confidence to be myself, in every way.
I will know the power that comes from within. I will give myself permission.
When I know the power of myself it cannot be taken.
Please don’t empower me.Subscribe  or  log in to reply

"LIFE GOES ON, LIFE HAPPENSIN OUR LIVES AS WOMEN"
Dear Unsealed,
I think about the times in life that I struggled to get through life financially and physically. There are numerous events in my 74 years that have either changed my life for the better or set me back a bit before concluding that everything will be okay in a bit.
Life is a survival of utmost importance to live my life according to my ideals and attitudes about my life experiences, people I meet on a day-to-day basis of reality. I have survived many relationships with men, friends, and acquaintances.
I survived an 11-year relationship with a Texas cowboy. June 2016, he moved his younger girlfriend into his bungalow in Fulton, Texas. I had decorated the house in my boho style furnishings and was feeling comfortable. His brother called me to tell me his brother was two-timing me. The next day my ex told me he was moving his girlfriend into the bungalow, and I would have to move. So, I said, “Wow, seriously after 11 years?” He did not respond.
I walked into my office, sat down to write a letter on my computer. I looked around at my cool new décor and almost cried. Then I heard him typing on his pc. I walked into the living room where he sat in front of his computer, chatting with his young girlfriend. They were exchanging love notes. So, I poured me a cup of coffee and walked back into my office. He had a doctor’s appointment that day. I waited for him to leave.
Upon his leaving I sat down at his pc, disabled his security system and other goodies to keep him safe that I had paid for forever. I got in my car and drove to the internet office. I explained what happened to the secretary at the office. So, they disabled the internet. I used my hot spot with my AT&T cell phone.
I drove home. He had returned home from his doctor’s appointment. He was desperately trying to start his pc. His pc was dead and so was the internet. He asked me, “Why did you do that? How will I chat with my girlfriend?” I told him, “Oh, maybe your new squeeze will fix it.” We did not talk much about anything after that moment.
I packed my bags with as many clothes and belongings as I could squeeze into my luggage. I packed the XBOX in my luggage. He was watching me. I did not care. I was done with his lies and carousing.
I had caught him in lies before but blew them off. We were never married. That was May 2016. I bought a ticket to LA. I sold my car. My friend picked me and my three suitcases up, my camera, my laptop to stay at her place before parting Rockport on a bus to Austin. I stayed with a friend in Austin who drove me to the train station. I rode the train over mountains, deserts, cities, towns to LA. Upon arriving in LA, I stepped off the train and bent down to kiss the ground.
I had been away from LA 13 years except for the vacation trips I took to visit my family and friends.
I was 66 years old. I sold my car, left half of my clothes, my family heirlooms, etc. in Fulton-Rockport, Texas. It was okay because I was home.
I survived other events too after arriving because life happens.
I stayed with my friends in LA awhile. I remember the day I left my friend’s apartment in North Hollywood to go to my son’s house in Irvine. Lyft dropped me off. I stepped out of the car to walk to my son’s front porch. I was towing three huge suitcases, a laptop, a camera, and my exhausted self into his house. I was 66 years old and humiliated that I was there in this manner of unfortunate circumstances. My son asked me, “Mom, hello. What did you do to Mike for him to kick you out?” I replied, “Nothing. He moved his girlfriend into the bungalow, so I had to leave, my name was not on the lease.” I ignored him. I asked him to help me with my luggage and show me to my room. So, he did that.
My relationship with his father ended in 1989. We were 180 degrees opposite. It was a horrible divorce. My dad was by my side during my divorce. There were so many tears.
So, after I arrived, I saw all my grandkids and concentrated on them, cherishing every minute I spent with each of them.
My story unfolds into so many avenues and freeways of life of being in different relationships with different men. I now know I can survive without a man. I do not need a man to create with, hang with ever again until I find one who is creative, truthful, caring and accepting of my ghost encounters and movie dreams of life.
The moral of the story is I do not want to go back to the 1950s when women were the property of their husbands. I refuse to go back. At 74 I survived two marriages and various relationships with people. Why go back now?
She goes
Where she strays
Across the roads
Of choices to take
In the wake
That she is older now
Too many men
Too many wrongdoing ones gone
So long.
She looks around her room as types away on her Lenovo laptop.
For what
To be alone to think about her life
As continues as an older woman
Of strife
Of joy, pain, happy times
As the clouds go away
The sun shines so close and so far, away
Surrounding her body
The bells chime
The music blares out of Alexa
LIFE IS GOOD!

Comfy in my comfort Zone
At one point in my life I lived in my safe comfort zone, it was a great space at lease I thought it was, it was a fortress it even came with guard that kept a vigilant watch over my thoughts that occupied my brain telling me constantly that failure would come to me if I tried anything new and my best bet was to stay within the confides of the comfort zone don’t dream don’t envision anything outside the zone.
But I knew that I did not want to live a mediocre life but I wanted a life full of extraordinary things a purposeful life staying in the comfort zone became harder to do when there was much I wanted to do and become. Until one beautiful day I decided to take the leap of faith and drown out the voices that kept me bound stuck in time not moving forward at all. I enrolled in classes at an online university and took he leap to get my Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, I first enrolled in classes not even having a working lap top computer, I knew I had time to figure that out later the classes were not going to start for another few weeks, but the first step was made I had left the comfort zone. I realized that nothing ventured nothing gained the first step is always the hardest. For the next two years I took my online classes toward my degree. It was an arduous journey faced with obstacles along the way so much happened in those two years, I learned many things about myself it tested my resolve and stretch me to capacity. I thank God for his grace I thanked God that he always sent me to help me with assignments when I have confused he sprinkled help along the way, I received support from family and friends that encouraged me when I wanted to quit and give up when the hills where to high and valleys were too low, they kept on track when I wanted to retreat and run back to the comfy zone closer to the shore, not out the middle where the tides and the currents where not always in my favor. Last year I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in healthcare management class of 2023,
What I learned along my educational journey and leaving my comfort zone: is the first step is absolutely the hardest and that no matter what I have something that nobody can take from me, and that knowledge in myself knowing that I can be anything I want to be and move forward no matter how small the step that I can have a purposeful life where I can help other people along this journey and that the next chapter of my story will be better than my first. To God is the glory the author and finisher of my fate.

In The Presence of My Creator
What I’ve come to realize is that we all long for a type of peace that surpasses all understanding and I’ve found that through Jesus Christ.
In the presence of my Creator I’ve found PEACE.
It’s often unexplainable to put into words how it feels to be at the feet of the one that created you.
Oh to know that there is breakthrough, transformation, surrender, joy, PEACE in His presence makes this race a little bit easier to run.
We can truly come to Jesus whenever and His peace will comfort us like a blanket.
Everything washes away in His presence because He has covered us with His blood.
The sadness is stripped away and peace arises
The heartbreak is stripped away and peace arises
The defeat is stripped away and peace arises
The shame is stripped away and peace arises
The worry is stripped away and peace arises
The fear is stripped away and peace arises
The doubt is stripped away and peace arisesPeace Arises in the Presence of My Creator
In His presence I feel most at peace because my Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
His word says that His peace surpasses all understanding, how beautiful is it to be filled with supernatural peace
You can only truly feel at peace when you encounter Christ

The Knowing
In the beginning things are always fairly out of sorts…
However, if nothing else is gained by all this and there aren’t any more humans left to begrudge their lot in life, once this iteration of life is over,
I hope the Earth recalls the peace…I hope Gaia remembers the fountainhead of silence arising just before the first cries of a newborn child, our laughter, and ingenuity.
Let us hope the stars align and we find ourselves prepared in our individual capacity, arms outstretched to offer that precious piece of what we have been farming to a grateful universe,
That every near-death experience, birth, and death (and every cacophonous event in between) be tempered by our collective understanding and vision of what it means to be still. That said, I have found peace in chaos…
Apparently, when this whole universe ordeal began and sent our species tumbling about the world, with a newly formed recognition of what would later cause us to have purpose, chaos was the backdrop upon which we landed.
There is peace in the acceptance of what is, and as that tumbles about like a stone being polished, what is becomes the infinite palette of chaos by which we have been invited to paint our stories.
You see, I have been kidnapped by the throbbing silence at the concussion of a rocket propelled grenade in a place without peace, and found peace entrenched there in the eyes of a child,
I have found it in the doing of things deemed impossible by a mind that would rob me of it, if only to replace it with the temporal anointing of the false gods of comfort and complacency. And I have climbed the wuthering heights of a synthetic human experience and ramshackle material excesses, only to forget where peace resides.
There is a Latin proverb stating: “Ne Te Quaesiveris Extra” which roughly translates to the fact that there is nothing to search for outside of self, for you are everything,
And into that wisdom, which grants its parishioner the confessional of truth by which all things must be measured to the accrual of life’s wonders, I commit my soul.In my life I have gleaned peace from everything with the exception of calm environs and found that peace is an ember best kept burning in the heart of the conscious observer, lest it become a light guiding me off the path of my discovery.
Peace from this stalwart vantage point is found in every instant wherein lies the possibility that chaos provides,
It is in the triumphant moment and the silent moment abutting it,
My peace is in the knowing…Voting is closed

This was beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poem. Too often we seek to find some sign or guide to pull us out of the chaos but I love the thought of finding peace by embracing said chaos. To find peace in this world, one must find peace within themselves. Beautiful.

I love how you explain your personal peace in the context of human evolution. It’s so creative and so different (and true). It is important to find peace in the chaos because life is chaotic.<3 Lauren

Write A Poem About Where And When You Feel Most At Peace 1 years ago
Mi Peace
To feel the wind from the trees
& instantly smile
Surrounded by the love of life
My world
Mi Amor
The Butterflies i get to see her face i the sunlight
In the moonlight
Underneath the stars
That shine as bright
As her Smile
My heart has never felt such joy
Such peace to be with someone as beautiful & perfect as she is
She is home
My Other Half
My Darling ,Love Of My Life
With her my problems go away
My past doesn’t hurt so bad
When i am sad i think of her
& i am at peace
I could not imagine my life without her
Her Smile
Her Glow
The love i get just by presence
Her Touch
Her Words
By the way she looks at me
She is my happy joyful place
She not only has my heart
But consumes my soul
In every good way i could possibly think of
To my Peace
I love you with my all, My everything
Thank you for making me feel safe
For you to be my peace
Thank you for being there for meVoting is closed

I hope to find a love like this at some point in my own life. I love the way you describe how your beloved makes you feel without relying on physical appearances which so many famous poems tend to do. Keep up the good work!

When I met my fiance, I told my mom it felt like I just put on the softest, warmest, coziest slipper. The way you talk about your love reminds me of what I feel with my fiance. Thank you for sharing. <3 Lauren
