A Softness in You
In the quiet of the world, I never sought,
But found a softness in you, like a tender thought.Not in the making, not in the plan—
But in the way you hold me, just as I am.
Like a warm blanket, a gentle embrace,
Where time slows down and hearts find their pace.Not a house to build, but a feeling to keep,
In the quiet of your love, I fall deep.
It’s the brush of a cheek, the softest kiss,
A quiet promise of eternal bliss.
With every touch, I am made whole,
You are the home that fills my soul.
In you, I’ve found a place to rest,
A love that swaddles me— even when it’s not at it’s best.Not a journey of seeking, but falling true,
I have found softness in you.In the warmth of a love that’s tender and kind.
Together we’ve found, not a place, but a way—
A soft, sweet home, where I hope to always stay.Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Unwelcome Guests
Invite the unsavory versions of you to
the table, angry, bitter, resentful; pour
them tea and settle their queries.Give each of them grace, they did what
they could with what they knew.& now that you know what you do, no
longer invite those women to the table;
they no longer serve you.Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Rapacious
I have shared all of my parts with you
I have disassembled myself
Piece by piece
My unity, compassion, empathy, sympathy
My sanity
All harvested for your amour propreI thank you for releasing me
I would have followed you to hell
And yet —
Without sharing my best parts of me with you
I suddenly feel so aliveSubscribe  or  log in to reply

I'll Be Seeing You
Sixty paces—the distance between the wear marks on the porch windowsill
to the stone coping beneath the cherry blossoms.From cold, wet nose kisses, punctuated by toe taps,
to the pungent pansies that now adorn his earthly bed.Four feet—forty-eight inches—the space from his head to my lap.
Yet—when I close my eyes, I’m met by his tender gaze.
I feel the weight of his head, the damp jowls,
the velvet of his coat against my skin.His warmth—lifting the weight of the day.
A kindred spirit, whose friendship I never questioned.
Sixty paces—a heart-rending farewell,
and a heartfelt hope: “I’ll be seeing you.”Subscribe  or  log in to reply

Awww Haley, I am writing this with my dog on my lap. Our dogs are our babies. I am sorry for your loss but I know he was very loved and he is so lucky for that. Sending hugs. Thank you for sharing and thank you for being part of The Unsealed. <3 Lauren

Write a poem about your goals for 2025 5 months, 1 weeks ago
Lists
I have spent much time creating lists;
One for goals, one for wishes, and one for expectations missed.
I have decided to leave those lists behind;
moving into 2025 more aligned.
Instead, I shall covet each spring blossom,
thawing the winter’s solemn.
Finding peace in the moments when the sun rises in the east;
And with it, the warmth of the sun unleashed.
Attending nature’s symphony, as the wind whispers through the leaves;
Uncovering a profound simplicity where peace and stillness weave.
Seeking glimmers of humanity,
in order to restore my sanity.
I will not spend much time creating lists;
Instead, I will seek life’s apricity where my soul can persist.

Haley, the imagery and symbolism in this poem is absolutely beautiful. You are right that so many of us spend excessive amounts of time making lists and checking off our accomplishments. Life is far too magical to spend so much time planning. In 2025, I hope you always seek the sunshine. Thank you for sharing!
