  • Fears illusions

    Dear fear

I know we speak often, one would say we’ve become friends. Our relationship has changed so much over the years, I think it’s on the mend. I see you as an invitation now. Somewhere the light is trying to creep in. The shut door’s cracked window revealed a new beginning. You used to paralyze me and you can still have that effect. I remember that I’ve stepped through that brightness. I’ve soaked in the sun beyond any closed doors. You show me my strength, and where I still need to grow, that sometimes it feels like we’re free falling and sometimes that can be excitement if I let it flow.

    • Sarah, your writing does a great job of explaining the complex feelings associated with fear. Sometimes fear is welcome and helps keep us from making mistakes, but other times fear holds us back. Even when we are paralyzed, fear helps us learn about ourselves. I hope that you are able to integrate fear into your life without letting it consume…read more

  • Stay open

I pity those who haven’t stumbled upon that everything has a reason
And most of your lows are for building
You must always trust your intuition
Everyone has some hate passed down like a lesion
If you stay open and honest you’ll find your vision

    • Sarah, you are so right that everything that happens to us is for a reason and can potentially lead to personal growth. When we encounter struggles in our lives, it is important to learn from them as we work through them. I like how you say that “everyone has some hate passed down like a lesion.” We have to be open enough to keep that hate from…read more

  • I’ll hug the trees for now

I yearn for the days we reincarnate as trees
A family of redwoods, sturdy and tall as can be
    Storms wouldn’t dare shake us
And our roots grounded in more than just emotion
    We’d be patient, we’d listen
We’d see humans making our mistakes
    And glisten at the lessons

    • Sarah, this poem is so simple but beautiful. This would be so amazing. To watch others make the same mistakes as we did, and to learn from them in different ways. To see them experience loss and grow from it. To see them happy and having a good time. This would be truly outstanding.

  • Cycles

    I’m learning how to receive
I’m not there for the harvest but i take part in the seeding
    Watering fickle trees
I play in the dirt on my hands and knees
Grounding in a foundation that works better for me

    • Gardening is such a calming activity. I really enjoy taking care of my garden in the cool morning and I like how you cleanly and concisely represented that feeling.

  • When I come first

Untying the knots from my own shoulders
    & neck
Healing the parts I deserve back
Shaking my hips for no one else
Relighting the fires I once forgot
Returning to balance all by myself

    • Short but sweet! I smiled at the line “Sharing my hips for no one else.” I love to dance alone in my room. Thank you for sharing and thank you for being part of our unsealed family. <3 Lauren
