Dear Self,

In contempt of the thousands of reasons why you feel you shouldn’t love yourself, I thought I’d give you just a few reasons you should:

You should love yourself in honor of all the people who never learned how.
You should love yourself in spite of all the men who wished you wouldn’t.
You should love yourself to make a political statement.
You should love yourself to break the cycle.
You should love yourself in case nobody else will.
You should love yourself in hopes that somebody else will.
You should love yourself for your future children, and by then, you’ll have had plenty of practice.
You should love yourself because you saw it in a movie one time.
You should love yourself because it’s the best form of revenge.
You should love yourself because it takes a lot less energy than hating yourself does.
You should love yourself because honestly, at this point it would be ironic.
You should love yourself because you are worthy of love.

Worst-case scenario– you drown in a cesspool of your own love.
