LaurenI want to officially introduce you two as pen pals! Both of you are such kind people with creative minds. Telina, Alex is artists. Alex, Telina is a writer. You both have had loss in your life but also have experienced a lot of love from your families.
I thought I would start you off with an icebreaker question. You guys also don’t have to reply to this thread. You can start your own.
But the icebreaker is, what is the best compliment you’ve ever received. I have two. In high school, I didn’t get into honors English. My guidance counselor advocated for me.
He said, “If you give her a challenge, she won’t only meet it, she will far exceed it.”
I got into honors English that year and also got an A in the class. I wanted to prove my guidance counselor right.
In my 20’s I also had a friend tell me, “When I need to make a strong decision I think of you.”
I didn’t know she perceived me that way. I was so touched.

I am Telina I haven’t had a pen pal in a long time and so it has been a while. I honestly cannot remember when I have gotten a compliment recently. Hopefully you can answer her question better. Feel free to write me now that we are friends on this page. I would like to know some more about you and what you like to do, and where you are from? I am from Denver, Colorado and pretty much have lived here my whole life. I am used to snow and the cold. I am 30 years old and live with a roommate. I like to read and write and to have great conversations with people. I am an analytical person and can be serious at times but still silly when I am around people that I trust. I am like to make life long friends and to get to know people. What are some things that you like to do for fun?

But wait…maybe actually…any of the compliments I’ve been receiving by beautiful Ms. Lauren here, whenever she sees my progress on this huge NYC painting I’m working on for a customer!! It always brightens my day when I read her compliments! She even shows her mom and her mom compliments me as well. Whenever someone compliments me on my artwork and how much I’ve grown as an artist, it’s truly a whole new different and amazing feeling; especially after years and years of being put down, bullied, or made fun of.

Where I am from:
Orlando, FL!! Originally from Connecticut :)! I moved here in 2016, So I know EXACTLY what you mean by being familiar with the cold!! I hated it. But nothing felt better than nights where I’d fall asleep with my window open and the cool winter or fall breeze would come through my screen while I was trying to sleep or fall back asleep.
Being in Florida, I don’t get that often anymore and it’s so hard to fall asleep when I am always so hot! I only have the fan on every night but sometimes it’s not enough.
What I like to do?:
I LOVE to draw and paint, and also go out and take photographs, however sadly, I haven’t done that in a very long time 🙁
I also enjoy singing and always have since I was very young! I love to do karaoke LOL and when the pandemic hit, a Facebook page came out and got so popular called “Quarantine Karaoke” and I joined and I was able to go live and sing whenever I wanted, and the audience always grew! I loved how I developed some “fans” and lifelong friends as well through there, even though I personally don’t think I sounded that good! LOL!
Anyways- I, too, love to write but I also haven’t in awhile either and REALLY need to get back to it. I’m currently still in process of writing an inspirational book, but haven’t really touched it since 2018 or so 🙁
But it’s also going to be blog posts on my art website!

Omg @amazz94 You are too sweet. You are so talented and you should know that. This is just the beginning for you. People who bully people usually do so because they are insecure in some way or another. It has nothing to do with you and everything to do with their own issues. There is a quote or maybe a name of song that says, “Hurt people hurt people.”
It is soooo true. Don’t let other people’s insecurities ever limit you. You are amazing. You are talented. And you have a gift that other people could only dream about. So keep growing, keep improving and keep believing in yourself. You’ve got the talent. So just ignore the doubters, hold close to the people who love and support you and lean into all of your dreams. Take one day at a time, and eventually you’ll look back and see the poetic and magical journey that you’ve traveling. Ok… now I will let you and @telina27 get back to it 🙂

That is so awesome that you write, paint, and sing. I love to sing also, but I am not that good either lol. Don’t let anyone tell you that you are not great. I agree with @theunsealed you are great and people only project how they feel about themselves onto other people. We each have our own talents and deserve to express them in whatever way we see fit. I hate that people like to bring down others just to make themselves feel better. I used to watch my older sister get bullied and it really does affect each person who has been bullied. Just think while you are succeeding those people are worrying about you. Let them hate that just means you will just keep doing better and better.
That’s awesome you live in Florida, I personally have always wanted to go out there, but I don’t have any family out there and it can be expensive to go there to stay and go to the beach. I live in the mountains, but I love the beach and find that it calls me home. I am a Sagittarius which is a fire sign, so water really calms me when I am feeling a certain way. What is your sign?
Yeah one of these days I will make it out there to see that turquoise ocean. There is something about the sand in between my toes that is comforting. I am the same way with heat it is so hard to fall asleep when you are hot. I sleep with three fans on. It is getting hotter in Colorado now that summer is here. I am just happy my complexes pool just opened so I can go swim.
I will check out your blog to see what it is all about. I don’t mind supporting people with their skills. I also blog a lot and I love to write poetry just cause there is something about connecting with people with words. I know that not many people like to read but I just love it because the mind can create great images within it.

I haven’t posted as much as I would like to but I am starting to write again get inspiration again. I think all of us as writers get writers block and shouldn’t feel bad about taking a break from it from time to time. I think your paintings are beautiful and speak to your emotion. Keep going with it. You got this and I have a feeling you will go far with your talent. I will say keep going with your book you could really help someone who needs it.

I would love to offer you a place to stay once we get to connecting more & once I settle in at a new place. I need to move soon due to some circumstances that I need to really start considering for my future. It is very unhealthy where currently live (I live with two guy roommates) and sometimes one of them is toxic due to drinking too much when he’s home.

My sign is Leo. My service dog is named Leo !! I LOVE that name. I am 100% Italian, so the name “Leo” just resonates with me. My great grandpa was also nicknamed Leo for short.
ALSO!!! Yes, the sand between my toes & also just being on the beach ALLOWS me to be PRESENT….something I really really struggle with lately, and I never let myself or allow any room for “self-care”.
Does it rain a lot in Colorado? I absolutely love when it rains if I am at home and doing some art or in the night when I am trying to sleep. It calms me so much.
And oh wow!! That is so cool. I have always wanted to connect with spirits especially those that I love whom have passed. I always wonder what it’s like to be able to connect. I feel like that would be so emotionally draining at times but so rewarding.
I just followed your TikTok!! I am trying to make it a goal to make my own art tiktok, but I only have one for my service dog and I do not post much on there because it is sooo hard to keep up with both Instagram and Facebook, and cannot imagine taking on another social media account to post content to 🙁 One day, hopefully!!!

That must be hard to deal with a roommate who likes to drink. I hope you find somewhere else to live soon who respects your space better.
It is funny that you say Leo is your sign because in natal chart my Moon is in Leo so some of my chart is fire. Which means you are a fire sign also. That’s awesome and I do look forward to connecting more. I’ve always been a loner so I don’t have many friends.
You should take time for yourself and even if it means going to the beach for 5 minutes to watch the waves. I meditate by listening to music and that’s when my inspiration hits me and I write a beautiful poem that really resonates with people. How does your inspiration come to you?
It does rain in Colorado but it has been more dry lately then rainy and even when it does look like it will it doesn’t. We get more snow than rain during Winter. I honestly hate the cold, but I deal with it cause most of my family is in Colorado, and I couldn’t be away from them. My mom has epilepsy and I worry about her sometimes, so I stay close so I am near her.
It can be draining to speak to spirit and too channel. I always have to protect my energy from other people and sometimes they don’t even realize they are siphoning off of my energy.
I read people sometimes without even trying to haha, so I really have to bring my energy into myself. I’m also an empath so I can feel others emotions as my own kind of like a sponge. So I honestly do like helping people especially when I channel their passed love ones and they have me tell them a message. I sense you are an empath also so you probably take on others emotions too. There are pros and cons but I think of my gifts as a pro cause this is what my calling in life is I believe.
You should do that and video while you paint to show your creative processes. I think there are a lot of people who love art and would love to see how you work to create such beautiful portraits. It is just a thought but doesn’t hurt to give it a try.
Don’t feel bad for taking so long to write back. We all have lives and can’t sit around writing all day . Look at me it took me a week to write you back. I am actually flying out to Texas to see my sister today June 24th, 2022 so I’ve been busy getting ready for a week long trip in humidity lol. Yes, I really do need to take time for myself. I’m slowly starting to, I think. My mind is just so jumbled and all over the place.
I find inspiration in many places: Instagram artist reels of how they do their paintings or drawings so I can improve, I find inspiration in the sky when it sets or rises, I find inspiration when I meet random people who have had nothing in life, only to become so much greater and choose to inspire others based off of their lived experiences and stories.
I want to be successful like them one day, and know in my heart I’m inspiring so many others.
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. That must be so hard. You’re definitely a blessing to her and I’m sure she’s very grateful.
Oh wow! Sometimes I wish I could get a reading from someone without paying them because some mediums out there use their ability not for the greater good, so a natural conversation to me would be so amazing if it were to ever happen!! Lol! And yes, I truly am an empath and sometimes it’s hard, but I like to believe that it makes me who I am and gives me the unique ability to connect with every single human, no matter the circumstance or how awful they could treat me. I still always try my best to be there even if he ever takes a toll on my own mental health.
I am doing to start recording progress videos and tips and tricks because I have to start teaching lessons to the kids in this summer art program I’m working for at a school. I want to record myself and post them to YouTube so they and others can follow along!!
I even started making them all homemade adorable mini sketchbooks LOL.

Sorry it took me so long to write you back. I was on vacation and then I just haven’t been on here too much. Going back to work after my vacation was interesting.
I would say that being an empath takes time to get used to because you pick up other peoples emotions thinking it is your own when it’s not. I feel that way all the time especially with people who are unhealed who are depressed or sad. I’ve learned how to put up a shield around my energy so I don’t get so tired from others. Another reason I haven’t been on here is because I’ve been pulling back my energy and working on my self love and healing by taking time for myself.
I wouldn’t mind reading you but I would have to talk on the phone with you in order to tap into your energy. I also like to ask people’s permission just cause not everyone is open to being read by someone. I don’t mind not charging cause I honestly am new to these gifts. I like to practice on people at first.
I think it is really cool that you do an art program for kids. They need it most because it teaches them how to have such good creativity. We all need an imagination because it helps us to be more open minded. I am glad my dad let me be creative as a kid. I love to read fantasy books and write stories that are more fictional then real. Keep doing what you are doing because with your help they would never learn how to express themselves from the heart. You teach from the heart and that is awesome.

It’s totally ok!! I completely understand about needing to do self care. To be honest, I’m not in a good mind state at all, and I think I need to go seek treatment. I’m so scatterbrained but I can’t seem to allow myself to rest or do any form of self care at all.
I need to finish some commissions first though before going away because I need to have that off my mind so I can get a clear mind.

yes, and honestly I have been not wanting to go on social media as much. I am sorry to hear about your state of mind. I am here to listen if you need to say anything to me. I know I am just a random person on the internet, but I have been there. Don’t beat yourself up too much and remember you are only human.
My trip was great it was so nice and comforting. I honestly love the beach and stick my toes in the sand. I hope to one day live near the beach. I am from Colorado but I do get called to the ocean every now and then. Water is so soothing.
