  • The Misunderstood Heart

In shadows deep, where secrets dwell,
A heart so tender, beneath a shell.
Choices made in the dark of night,
Searching for love, just to feel right.

Unseen abuse, scars from the past,
A child’s heart broken, growing up fast.
    Running away, chasing the light,
Yearning for love, in an endless fight.

Yet here I stand, keeping it real,
With love’s tender touch, I’m made of steel.
Beneath the surface, storms rage inside,
A story of hope, where pain can’t hide.

So judge not the paths that I chose to roam,
For every misstep, I still seek a home.
In the search for love, we each play a part,
With wounds that linger, yet still, I have heart.

    • Shelley, having heart in the face of pain and adversity shows true strength! Though we all search for love and hope that it finds us, we have to remain strong and determined throughout the process. You are right that you are made of steel, and that will protect your misunderstood heart. Thank you for sharing your experience!

  • A sweet romance with scoops and swirls

    Dearest Ic Cream,
Oh, sweet confectionary delight, how you tempt me with your frosty charm and velvety textures. Each time I approach your cool embrace, my heart races with excitement, like a kid at Christmas morning — if Christmas involved licking and slurping in ways that would make even the bold blush.
I must confess that you are the loveliest treat. With your smooth whirls and delightful array of flavors, you are the summer fling I never knew.
Remember the steamy night when I topped you with hot fudge, whipped cream and sprinkles? You made shudder with delight. And, the cherry, so sweet!
I still remember our first encounter. You were cool and frosty, and I, a hot mess. You beckoned me with your cool allure. How could I resist? I surrendered and dove into your two scoops, watched how you melted just a little, tempting me to go back for more and more.
Remember my dear, you are the most luscious treat and you know how to ignite my passions. Oh the fantasies!
Until we meet again my dear, I will dream of extravagant sundaes and the naughtiest delight of all — the banana split, where you slip in between the slices, topped with sweet, sweet toppings. Oh, the ecstasy!
    Yours indulgently,
    Shelley

    • Shelley, there are few things that compare to a bowl of your favorite ice cream with whatever toppings you choose. Ice cream even has the power to heal a broken heart, or so I’ve heard. Your vivid description of this delicious treat has me considering a quick stop on my way home today! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

  • Resolution Revelations for New Year

In the dawn of a new year’s light,
I set my sights, my heart takes flight.
    With resolutions bright and bold,
Three goals unfold, like stories told.

First, to shed the weight I bear,
To dance with ease, to breathe fresh air.
A journey paved with low-cal meals,
And every step, the joy reveals.

Next, a book where laughter flows,
A collection of columns, where humor grows.
Each word a spark, each line a cheer,
Sharing my wit, bringing joy near.

Last, a moment for prayer each day,
In quietude, I’ll find my way.
To nurture the soul, in peace I’ll dwell,
In gratitude, my heart will swell.

So here’s to goals, both big and small,
To rise with purpose, to heed the call.
With laughter, health, and faith in view,
This new year’s promise, I’ll see it through.
