Goodbyes
Are we filled with mourning, filled with grief
When branches release their last brown leaf
Are we filled with anguish, filled with woe
When the sun melts the last cindered snowSeasons are a blended transition
“One day”s coming into fruition
And so is this life into the next
Letting go, while clutching to our chest
Like a dainty rose held too tightly
Watching the soft petals fall lightly
What we know, clouded by what we feel
So why does this goodbye seem so realAre we filled with mourning, filled with grief
When the branches bud their first green leaf
Are we filled with anguish, filled with woe
When the sun brings songs of the sparrowThis is not the end, but your rebirth
Disappearing seed into the earth
Promised beauty after the stillness
Remaining joy despite the illness
We pull you close as we let you go
Goodnight kiss and, “See you tomorrow”
What we know, clouded by what we feel
So why do goodbyes feel so realVoting is closed

The last thing my Grandmother said to me before she passed was “Until we see each other again”. She knew she was dying and so did I, but she left me with that beautiful message that I carry around with me always. As hard as it is now, we will see each other again.

This is so beautiful. The poem is more than words. It’s an experience. You can feel the emotion in the way you weave the words. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for being part of our unsealed family. <3 Lauren

Write A Poem About Where And When You Feel Most At Peace 1 years ago
Space Between
In the space between beginning to fall and feeling pain
Rain’s sudden stop while driving under a bridge
Laughter silenced by holding breath through a tunnel
A dropped glass’ last second before the shatter
Quiet lightening cracks awaiting the clap of thunder
Sudden pauses, the allusion of frozen time
A breath of fresh air or the wind knocked out?
A hallowed interlude or a hollowed moment?
Peace in waiting and bliss in ignorance
Comfort in the middle of what was and what must be

This is AMAZING, Melodee!! I am obsessed with the line “Comfort in the middle of what was and what must be.” When you experience moments where you get to have a brief second of peace, life can be put into perspective. It is so funny to me that the littlest, most random moments in life can be so meaningful to others. Outstanding poem!!
