Lauren: What is the most important message you hope people take away from your story?

Ruth: Um. That I want to say that part in, in my poem where I said, you don’t need to have it all to give it all you’ve got.

Lauren: I love that part. I actually wanted to make a note of that part.

Ruth: That is something that I really believe wholeheartedly like, because, you know, there’s people without arms, without legs, there’s people who are blind who, you know, live an abundant life. And so that also is proof you don’t need to have every part of your body and those you know, and that also makes you beautiful, you know, the fact that you can have that confidence to. And not saying that it’s not difficult at times because it is it’s frustrating, you know, but to wake up and keep going says a lot. So I would say that message, you don’t need to have it all to give it all you got. And that’s why I said one is truly enough when I say I would not change a thing. And I know I think I’ve said that more than once, but I really wouldn’t because someone asked me how would I feel if I were to get my other eye back? I don’t think I would want it back.

Lauren: Why?

Ruth: Because I don’t think I would be me. Like, I, I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t just the the things that I’ve done and like how it’s kind of given me strength that I didn’t know I had and how it’s made me want to not necessarily prove myself, but just kind of show that this is possible. And honestly, if I woke up one day and my vision came back in this, I my first thought would be, what in the world is going on? Because, um, I’d be like, is this a trick? And I that because this is so that like, this is my normal.

Lauren: Yeah. You know what I think? I think hearing that you wouldn’t trade who like, trade your situation because it made you who who you are tells me that you like who you are. You turned into a person that you yourself like and admire and appreciate. So you don’t want to change that. And I think that’s really that’s really beautiful.
