  • Why I broke off my engagement and what it taught me

    Dear Unsealed Community,

When I was 19 years old, I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted to chase my dream as a sportscaster. In pursuit of that dream,  I started working at the NBA. I commuted two hours from Columbia University to New Jersey, three days a week, because I was committed. I wanted to network with people who worked in sports. I…read more

  • A sponteous trip to the city

When I was younger, I was a huge David Letterman fan. I remember watching his morning show before I left for my summer job. I loved his sense of humor and the crazy things they did on the show. So, I was disappointed when the show was canceled.

A couple years later, he returned to the air with Late Night with David Letterman. It was on so late.…read more

  • The Call to Action

    Dear Unsealed Readers,

When I was younger, I always dreamed I would make a difference. I used to think about scenarios I would be able to do to change things. It wasn’t until I was nearly through my 20s that an opportunity came my way to do just that. I knew it had to be important and so I kept myself ready for the right moment to come. In 2012 i…read more

        • Roger,
You’re most welcome. That’s good you try to do a service for everything that you do. I’ve never been to a car show, but you have me curious to look at some chips to see what they’re like. That’s great that car shows can have a charitable element to them. 6,000 for the American Cancer Society is incredible! I like that sentence, combine…read more

    • Lauren,

I’ve been here for the majority of your journey of creating The Unsealed and your hard work making it what it is today. Knowing where it found me, it is incredible what you’ve done. I know that at moments I can be incredibly difficult. You have through The Unsealed helped me reshape the person I am. A lot of the truth of my life isn’t…read more

  • Turning my Ashes to Their Diamonds

As babies we are programed with nursery rhythms, “1st comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in the baby carriage.” Then as children we go to school and are given unrealistic goals to meet with minimal help. Told that we need to get it all done in preparation for college and the work field. If you want to have children, as your pro…read more

    • Antoinette!!! This story is incredible. You are amazing. It’s so crazy how the way someone treats you in a moment as a childhood can have such a ripple effect. What strength you have to take it upon yourself to learn to read for your child, and lookout you now!!! Writing like a pro! I am in awe of your strength and your courage. And I am sure…read more

    • Dear Al,
Reading your story reminds me how important it is for teachers to be positive and caring. I am sorry you had that awful classroom experience but it seems in the end it made you stronger and extremely determined to overcome your difficulty with reading. It sounds like you are a wonderful mother. Good luck to you and your…read more

    Chasing the Unknown

    Dear Dreamer,

I remember when I was a kid and I wanted to be a mermaid. I loved watching movies, and of course The Little Mermaid was my favorite movie. I remember loving water and wanting to get away from the world by transforming into a mermaid. I had not yet been to the ocean but watching that movie made me feel like I was there. Then as I got…read more

    • Chasing dreams is all in the mindset of the person chasing them. If they fully put their mind to it and pray on it anything is possible in my opinion. I had many dreams but before that, I would make a goal to accomplish my dream and remove anything that can help me reach that goal. Thank you so much for sharing your letter Telina it is powerful.…read more

It really is a mindset honestly and I agree with you on this. The mind is such a powerful place to start planning. You are correct making a goal is important so you know exactly what you want to accomplish. The heart is a beautiful place to start allowing emotion come in to play when it comes to the dream.

        thank you for reading…read more

    • The unknown is very scary for many people. I think it’s a lot of having not only faith in ourselves, but overall faith in the universe. Faith that everything will work out as it should. We constantly worry about what if something bad happens, but not enough about all the good possibilities. Constantly forcing ourselves to make the shift in our…read more

    A true hero

    To Terry Fox:

A lot of people outside of Canada probably don’t know who you are but you are a hero me to many Canadians. I remember I first heard about you and your Marathon of Hope in the spring of 1980 when I was 14 years old. You were just 21 and had lost a leg to cancer when you were 18. Despite having only 1 leg you set out to run across C…read more

    • Pete,

Not only did I know about Terry, I actually shared a post on my Facebook about literally just Friday afternoon. I’ve had the opportunity to visit Canada several times visiting both Toronto and Montreal in my late teens. I still want to visit Halifax and see the memorial to the victims of the Titanic disaster.

It is so incredible what…read more
